Stag & Doe Sessions Returns For St Patrick’s Weekend Celebration

AFTER the success of the Stag & Doe Sessions in The Greyhound Bar last month, the showcase of original artists will return with a special celebration for St Patricks weekend.

The Stag & Doe Sessions will collaborate with The Dirty Disco as part of the one-year anniversary of their Patrick’s Day celebrations.

The Dirty Disco will be hosting Stag & Doe Sessions on Saturday, March 18th in the Greyhound with some of the best local and Irish DJ’s Dessie Mac, Redwah, Luke Reidy, James O’Callaghan & Ricky Clifford on Friday March 17th followed by up-and-coming artists Mario Mannering and Leevy taking the stage on March 18th with a live DJ set from Tralee’s Luke Reidy & James O’Callaghan to top the weekend off.

Mario Mannering was born in Glenties Co. Donegal. His Latest single ‘Bad Thing’ was recorded and produced at the Stonewall Studio, Sinning, Oberhausen, Bavaria and was o-produced, mixed and mastered at the studios of RadioLee.ie in Tralee by Derek Berrill in December 2022. Having lived and worked in Tralee, Mario is delighted to be bringing his music to the sessions.

A graduate from Munster Technological University Kerry, Leevy is the music project of Gaeltacht reared songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Amhlaoibh McSweeney.

McSweeney’s songwriting weaves tender introspection and gallows humor together under musical arrangements. The act consists of old friends from Cork’s Gaeltacht region.

Great Line-Up For Stag & Doe Sessions Return This Friday

HAVING been postponed a couple weeks ago, the Stag & Doe Sessions return to Tralee this Friday night at ‘The Greyhound Bar’.

The line-up includes Tralee’s very own Leanne Hennessey, Farranfore’s Shane Kennedy, Neon Cars from Cork and three-piece pop/rock band Stolen City.

Leanne is a newcomer to the music industry, only learning how to play guitar six months ago. She has since gathered thousands of views on her social media including her Tik Tok account.

Leanne quickly gathered a fan base with her covers of Ed Sheeran, Bob Marley and rock and roll icon Elvis Presley.

A musician from an early age, Shane Kennedy is a well-known performer in the Kerry pub scene but since then Shane has been busy cooking up exciting new tracks such as “Phone Box,” “Your Shadow” and his debut single “Far From The Way We’re Told”.

The Neon Cars are a four piece Indie Rock band from Cork. They have performed across Ireland and the UK playing a number of headline shows and festival appearances such as Independence Music festival.

Stolen City are a three-piece pop/rock band comprised of lead singer Sean McGrath, multi-instrumentalist Dave McCabe and drummer Ian Bailey, who pride themselves on their high energy and unforgettable live performances.

The independent three-piece band have had some major success on their own with them selling out shows around Ireland, playing at some of the top festivals and even reaching the number 1 spot in the Irish charts with 2 of their singles.

Stag And Doe Sessions Music Showcase Postponed

THE Stag & Doe Sessions which were due to return this Friday night at The Greyhound Bar have had to be postponed.

A statement from the organisers said that a medical emergency involving one of the artists was the reason got the postponement until Friday, February 24.

“We regret to inform that we will be postponing our February 10th event due to a medical emergency with one of our artists,” reads the statement.

“Given the circumstances we feel it’s in the best interest for all parties that we postpone the event until the 24th of February. All tickets purchased will remain valid for the 24th of February with further tickets still available to purchase.

“We would like to wish the member a safe and speedy recovery as we look forward to seeing all our acts on stage in The Greyhound Tralee on the 24th of February. We apologies for any inconvenience caused and we look forward to seeing everyone there!”

The Stag & Doe Music Sessions Find A New Tralee Home

THE Stag & Doe Sessions are returning to Tralee in a new venue next month after a break of over three years.

The Greyhound Bar will host the line-up of original music artists with the first session  starting on February 10.  The sessions were a great addition to the town’s nightlife scene back in 2019 providing a platform for artists playing original music.

The line-up will feature Tralee’s Leanne Hennessy, Farranfore’s Shane Kennedy, four piece indie rock band from Cork Neon Cars and the acclaimed Stolen City.

Stag & Doe Sessions Returns For First Anniversary Gig In Tralee

STAG and Doe Sessions will celebrate their one year anniversary with a gig in The Fiddler Bar Tralee on Friday, April 3.

They have three amazing original Irish acts with Leevy, Sara Ryan and The Neon Cars (formerly Columbia) taking to the stage in on the night.

Kicking off the night will be Leevy who opened the first ever Stag & Doe Sessions back in 2019.

Leevy’s back with a whole new series of original songs including his latest single ‘ Set Me Sailing’ which was released on all major music platforms today.

Next up is Sara Ryan who is a singer, songwriter and performer. Hailing out of Newbridge, County Kildare, Sara has shared the stage with artists such as Mick Flannery, Jack L, John Spillane, Wyvern Lingo and Luka Bloom.

Her music has received a huge amount of support from Irish media including stations such as KCLR, WLR, Galway Bay FM, Cork’s 96FM and RTE Radio 1.

Sara Ryan will play in Tralee on April 3.

Her single ‘Bright Blue Skies’ has been featured on Hot Press and The Last Mixed Tape. Sara is kicking off her European tour with a full band set at Stag & Doe Sessions.

Finally, The Neon Cars are back in Tralee to perform a brand new set. 2019 was an amazing year for the Mitchelstown boys as they played a series of festivals and tours with the bands such as Aslan, The Frank and Walters and Fallen Lights.

Their Single ‘Shout it Out Loud’ Gained massive traction in the Irish Charts and was featured heavily on 2FM, 2XFM and Corks Red FM! 2020 plans to be a big year for The Neon Cars. With hopes of releasing a follow up single to Shout it Out Loud in Spring and the band also planning to embark on their first ever UK tour.

THE Stag & Doe Sessions is back this Friday night, offering original live music in The Fiddler Bar in the Square.

Three bands are lined up ready to rock the venue and they’re no stranger to playing top venues.

First up  is Tralee’s own Sam Kavanagh’s and his band Outlion performing their brand new EP for the first time in Tralee. Cobblestones and Whelans have hosted these guys  in the past so they’ve honed their live act in renowned venues.

Stolen City are back in Tralee after playing this year’s Fresher’s Fest 2019 in the Square. They couldn’t get enough of Tralee so they are back to lift the roof once again in the Square with tracks like ‘Cupids Daughter’ and their hit ‘Coming Home’.

If Outlion and Stolen City weren’t enough, they have their biggest act to date, Fallen Lights, just after their tour with All Tvvins and their headline gig on The Village Stage at Indie 19.

Dubbed, “The hardest working Irish act” by Today FM, Fallen Lights finished a headline Irish summer tour in Whelans Dublin to a full house of fans screaming for more as the band exited the stage.

Stag & Doe Sessions Return With Great Line-Up

THE Stag & Doe Sessions returns next month and organisers are promising the best night live original music yet.

Taking place on Friday, November 15 at 9pm, The Fiddler Bar in the Square will host Outlion, Stolen City and Fallen Lights. The Sessions have provided an opportunity for local music fans to see great original acts in the town and tries to energise the Tralee music scene.

Stolen City

The Stag & Doe Sessions Returns To The Fiddler

THE Stag & Doe Sessions has been a great success bringing live original music to the people of Tralee in two superb gigs so far.

The launch night went down a treat with an array of artists from all around Kerry including Deep Sky Objects, Scenes, Leevy, Radar Fry, Julian and Owen Rua, while the second Stag & Doe featured Dublin based Tanjier, Cork’s Gerald Ahern as well as Tralee local Lauryn Griffin who went down a storm!

The third Stag & Doe sessions will take place in the Fiddler Bar on Friday, August 16. It promises to not disappoint with an amazing lineup of original Irish artists.

First up is Limerick Singer Song-writer Dave O’ Sullivan followed by Tralee’s Seamus Harty of Today FM fame, both playing their original creations that will really get the night off to a flying start.

Next up is Cork based Columbia who will be fresh from their performance at Indiependance Festival, they will be sure to get the crowd moving.

Finally, the headline act on the night will be the brilliant Laura Duff with full band. Laura and Co. who  recently played Live in the Heigue as well as a string of dates across the country, will finish off the night in style!

NEW music talent was to the fore at the first Stag and Doe Sessions at The Fiddler Bar in the Square on Saturday night.

The organisers said the gig was a success and proved what a great depth of talent we have here in Kerry and further afield.

“We were delighted to get such great support from the town,” said organiser, Gerard-Denis O’Connor.

“Each act brought their own individual style to the night, whether it was Owen Rua’s soulful tones, Julian’s eclectic tones, or Leevy’s energetic bi-lingual set, the night was full of variety.”

“The night was closed out with a set from Tralee’s Own- Radar Fry. Scenes followed suit with a set that kept the crowd wanting more and Deep Sky Objects proved that their star is most definitely on the rise with a very impressive headline set,” said Gerard-Denis.

Launch Of New Music Sessions Night In Tralee

THE first Stag & Doe Sessions will take place in The Fiddler Bar in the Square on this Saturday night with doors open at 7:30pm. The event was previously due to take place in The Ashe Hotel, so note the change of venue.

According to the organisers, Stag & Doe Sessions aims to revive the original live music scene in Tralee.

With an abundance of acts itching to perform and  prove that Tralee and indeed Kerry is thriving with up-and-coming original artists, it should be a great night.

On the night there will be performances from Leevy, Owen Rua, Julian, Radar Fry, Scenes and Deep Sky Objects headlining. It promises to be a night jam-packed full of brilliant, original music. Tickets are €5 and available on the night, doors open at 7.30pm.
