THERE’LL be no more marches or singing on the terraces in Killarney this year for the Rockie faithful.
The Bishop Moynihan Cup will have a new home as Austin Stacks bowed out of the county championship with Dr Crokes advancing on a scoreline of 1-11 to 1-10 in Fitzgerald Stadium, in front of a big crowd of Rockie travelling support.
They’ll be kicking themselves in the Tralee club as they wasted a number of chances in the first half and dominated the second, only to see Eoin Brosnan pop up with a late winning point for the Killarney side.
Kieran Donaghy was immense in the second-half to help pull back a deficit of four points from the first period (1-6 to 0-5), but while they managed to pull ahead by one in the closing stages, Dr Crokes, to their credit, turned it around to win.
It’s been a magical past 12 months for the Rockies and with the talent that’s there, they can look forward to next year with optimism, but for now they’ll ponder on what might have been.
Tomorrow we’ll have a match analysis, action shots and fan pics
