Tralee Boxing Club News

Mixed luck at the Munsters on Monday .

Shane Coffey boxed very clever to win against Colin Fitzpatrick (Ennis BC) in Boy 3  44.5kg & will box next sunday 25th for a Munster Title.

Francie Doherty Boy 1.   37kg  came up against Jamie McCarthy (Riverstown BC) Cork who was described as the best boy 1 for the last 20 years.

McCarthy will probably go on to win the All Ireland title but he will remember the day he beat Francie Doherty from Tralee.

Doherty never once took a backward step as he tried in vain to overcome this classy boxer, however we live and learn and Francie will be back next year with a years experience behind him.

Johnathon O Brien came up against Sean Rynne (Kilfenora BC) and although Johnathon is boxing as Boy 3 he really is Boy 1 without much experience behind him he was in just his third fight but stood up well and at times showed he has plenty potential if he keeps at it.

So onto the finals next sunday is Christopher Mongans  Boy 2  54Kg  and Shane Coffey Boy 3 44.5 Kg.

Also next week Sat 24th we have Mike, John, Patrick McCarthy boxing in semi-finals from the National Stadium in Dublin, Tralee Boxing Club would like to wish all boxers the very best of luch next weekend.
