THE Institute of Technology Tralee has now started taking applications for the position of President of the college.

Dr Oliver Murphy’s five year contract is coming to an end and the successful candidate will be taking on the role at a very important time for the college, as it prepares to merge with Cork Institute of Technology to form the Munster Technological University (MTU).

Dr Murphy, from Limerick, was appointed President of the College in June 2011, after holding the position of acting President for five months, following the appointment of the former ITT President Michael Carmody as President of Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology.

The Public Appointments Service will be accepting applications up until March 2. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to apply for the role of President for the Munster Technological University.
