Tralee Parnells GAA News

traleeparnells 2Under 12 Boys League:

The U12s had their fourth and final match of the county league phase 1 v Kenmare on Friday the 1st  in Caherslee. The game was played in driving rain, credit to both teams and supporters for braving the elements. On a night unsuitable for hurling the local team came out on top by 2 points. Great credit to both sides for effort.

Kerry Under 16 Hurlers:

Congrats to the Kerry U16’s who won the Munster inter divisional final against South Tipperary on the 4th. Parnells players Johnny Downey, Lee Browne and Timmy Kelliher were involved on the day. Ciaran O Reilly is currently injured, we hope he returns to fitness very soon.

Kerry Under 15s:

Well done to James McDonnell, Cathal Dunne, Brian Lonergan and Kenny Foran who togged out for the Kerry U15s Saturday in the Garry Scollard tournament.  Donagh McMahon was missing due to illness, we wish him a swift recovery.

Under 12 Girls League Matches:

Our under 12 girls travelled to Crokes in Killarney for matches against both Killarney and Causeway.  This was another chance for these girls to get match experience and we could see them improve as the play progressed.  There was great spirit and effort throughout the field, with Katie and Saoirse having a particularly strong impact.  In one excellent passage of play, Katie drove a long searching puck put down the right wing; our midfield were quickly on the ball and a clever diagonal pass to the left side of the area allowed Jessica to pounce for a great team goal that drew shouts of praise and encouragement from the Parnells parents and supporters.  Team Danielle, Katie, Aoife, Saoirse, Emma, Caoimhe, Clodagh, Jessica, Lauren.

Under 11 Boys:

Hard luck to Parnells U11 who lost to Abbeydorney in the North Kerry league Friday evening the 8th. We travelled to Abbeydorney with 16 players and all the lads a run out, great experience for some boys playing their first ever game.  Final score 4-02 to 2-02.

Well done Kerry Hurlers in Austin Stack Park:

Parnells congratulates the Kerry Hurlers on their win over Meath in Austin Stacks park Saturday.

Camán to Thurles:

There are now links on the club blog and on our Facebook site, to some YouTube video clips taken during the Semple Stadium Under 12 Camogie Blitz.  As a follow up, Parnells have been in touch with

the Parteen club we faced that day, with a view to possibly arranging visits for friendly matches.  Can all girls who travelled to Thurles and took up the option to attend the Camogie All Ireland final, please let Camogie mentors know, so we can see if there are sufficient numbers to organise a bus from Tralee on Sunday September 13th.

Primary Schools Outreach:

Another fantastic morning of hurling was had last week, as part of Tralee Parnells hurling/camogie initiative In schools in Tralee and surrounding areas. Even the weather was with us as all the kids showed off the skills they have learned 3rd classes from Listellick/CBS/Blennerville/Spa/Caherleaheen.

Get Well Wishes:

Parnells would like to wish our under 14 player Jonathan Lowe a speedy recovery following his recent illness.

Kerry Senior Camogie Congratulations:

Tralee Parnells congratulates the Kerry Senior Camogie Team, and Captain, and Player of the Match, Michelle Costello, who won the Irish Daily Star National Camogie League Div 4 Final last weekend. This is the first Kerry county camogie senior title .. our star is rising! Well done to all involved.

Parnells would like to extend our sympathies to the Spring family on the passing of Dr. Arthur Spring. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
