Kerry Travellers ProjectTHE Kerry Travellers Health & Community Development Project are gearing up for a busy event next month.

They will unveil their “Tall, We Stand” Project at the Community Room at Áras An Phobail, Tralee on Friday, July 8.

“The “Tall, We Stand” project is a county wide project for Traveller Pride week 2016. In the course of this project, we will document through film, photography and the written word what being a Traveller means for us, what our hopes and dreams are for ourselves and our family and what is beautiful about being a Traveller,” explains a release from the group.

“Our aim is to highlight Travellers in Kerry as we really are; strong, dignified, proud people, who dream for great lives for our children and ourselves.”

“This will kick off a yearlong project to show the real side of Travellers in Kerry.  We want to reach out to all the community in Kerry, and ensure all families have the opportunity to participate. This is a project to honour the past, present and future generations, and to promote the contribution of Travellers in Kerry to the county,” reads the statement.

The event takes place from 11am to 2pm at Áras An Phobail on Friday, July 8.
