‘Let’s Cook’ is a collection of recipes from Derryquay’s families and friends. With over 140 recipes, this cookbook offers plenty of choice from breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts and baking, to international recipes from around the world, including celebrations.

Minister Norma Foley said; “I’m thrilled to be here at the launch of such a wonderfully diverse collection of recipes and cooking tips from the school community of Derryquay. ‘Let’s Cook’ is a fabulous name for a cookbook and will make the ideal Christmas Gift.”

“Our cookbook really shows that the friends and families of Derryquay National School love to cook,” said Sharon Condon, Derryquay Parents Association’s Cookbook Committee.

“Not only have our families got involved, but we have recipes from past pupils, the local community and from family members around the world. Many of these recipes have been in these families for generations and by their nature are very special.”

Ide Brosnan, Principal, Derryquay National School said; “it’s great to see the community spirit very much alive in Derryquay and is testimony to our school’s motto “a small school with a big heart”.

The cookbook would not be possible without the support of families, local community and the generosity of sponsors and all at the school thanked the sponsors for funding the printing costs and for Tralee Printing Works for printing the high quality publication.

“We would especially like to thank Minister Norma Foley for not only helping us launch our cookbook but for featuring her recipe in the cookbook as well,” added Íde.

“Norma has a deep connection with Derryquay with her own father, the late Denis Foley a past pupil of Derryquay, so having her launch our cookbook is very special. We hope that our cookbook will bring great joy to families, and endless hours of cooking and baking for many generations to come.”
