THE John Mitchels Lip Syng was another successful fundraiser during the October Bank Holiday weekend raising thousands for the club’s development, but there was also a charity aspect to the event.

Each act nominated an organisation or charity to benefit if they won and in the case of eventual winners, Wrong Direction, it was St John Of God in Tralee.

James Duggan, Akeem Molloy, Jonathan O’Halloran, and Mikey Walsh sang Westlife’s ‘A World Of Our Own’ to the delight of the crowd and on Friday, Jonathan and Mikey were on hand to present a cheque for €500.

Jonathan’s aunt Maggie O’Donnell uses the services at St John Of God and she was there to accept the cheque from the lads, along with Brenda McNamara, Co-Ordinator of the Programme for Active Living (PAL) department.

“We’re absolutely delighted to be in receipt of the much needed funds because the advantage is the funds will be spent in the group that Maggie is in Monday to Friday,” said Brenda.

As for John Mitchels, they were delighted to support such a great organisation and they look forward to hosting another big fundraiser next year, although what form that will take has yet to be decided.
