AN unlikely alliance of Zumba and Bowling came together on Thursday night to help out a Spanish charity.
Jacqui and Gavin Lythgoe, owners of Bowling Buddies, joined forces with Zumba instructor Linda Flanagan to produce a night where people would get a chance to bowl for an hour followed by an hour of Zumba action.
The night also included a prize of a meal for two in the Fels Point Hotel for the highest score in bowling.

The Children of Emaus are the beneficiary of the night. They are an organisation based in Spain which look after orphan children and victims of domestic violence.
The Spanish government pulled the plug on funding for Emaus so they are now totally reliant on charitable donations, this is where Jacqui and Gavin Lythgoe come in.
Being regular holiday makers in Spain, Jacqui and Gavin, have seen the work Emaus do so were called to action to help the charity’s plight.
“It is an unusual combination, but they’re two things that are easy to do and it’s a bit of funny really,” said Jacqui Lythgoe.
This is the first time, Bowling Buddies, have staged the event, but are planning more in the future.
“The next time we do this, we will put out dispensaries to collect nappies, toothbrushes etc, all the basics because they are in urgent need of them,” said Jacqui.
