John Mitchels v Spa, County League Division 1 Promotion Playoff Final, Sunday 1:30pm, Venue TBC
THE Mitchels can make a huge leap forward on Sunday when they take on Spa, aiming for a place in the County League Division 1 for the first time in 12 years.
They upset the odds last weekend – a dramatic late goal in extra-time against a fancied Rathmore side booked Mitchels place in the play-off final.
A venue has yet to be decided, but it is expected that a Mid-Kerry venue will be chosen.

On Sunday they will once again be underdogs against Spa who defeated Munster Intermediate Champions, St Mary’s, in the other semi-final.
Despite the extra-time heroics, John Mitchels are happy to report a clean bill of health for Sunday. Traleetoday.ie, spoke to selector, Eoin Kelliher, about the big test ahead.
“We showed great heart and courage against Rathmore, the whole team played very well and we were very happy with outcome,” he said.
“It would be unbelievable for the club to get back into Division 1. We haven’t been there 12 years so it would be great for the supporters and the underage structure. It’s a long time not being there.”
In the past 12 months, both teams can claim victories against each other.
In the County League last April, Mitchels secured a four point home win, but in September, Spa ran out nine point winners in the Intermediate County Championship semi-final.
“We know we take it up it a few notches to compete with Spa the next day, but we’re hopeful of putting up a good performance,” said Eoin Kelliher.
