TWO CDs by talented young Kerry musicians will be launched by the Cathaoirleach of Kerry, Cllr Pat McCarthy at 2pm on January 30 at KDYS Killarney.
The CDs are the result of two separate projects, both overseen by Kevin Gleeson, former Kerry County Council composer in residence co-funded by the Arts Council.
The first CD, ‘Air is Still’, is songs by Kerry students and the result of work that Kevin Gleeson did with students in schools around the county as part of his residency.

St. Brigid’s Secondary School, Causeway Comprehensive, Coláiste na Sceilge, Pobal Scoil Corca Dhuibhne and Killorglin Community College all have students demonstrating their musical talents on the new CD.
The second CD, ‘Home: Songs by Sarah Finnan and Lorraine Nash’ is the result of mentoring sessions that Kevin gave to two talented Kerry musicians, Lorraine Nash and Sarah Finnan. These sessions were hosted by the KDYS in Killarney and have been funded by Kerry County Council and the Arts Council of Ireland.
“It was an amazing opportunity to work with Lorraine and Sarah” said Kevin Gleeson. “Both are incredibly talented musicians and songwriters and they pair showed immense enthusiasm throughout the mentorship.”
“Both have huge potential as artists and I hope the experience they have gained through this mentorship as well as the industry standard recordings that were produced will give them a great start in their musical careers.”
The mentoring sessions were held over three Saturdays in the KDYS, Killarney which was turned into a mini-recording studio by Kevin.
