Five Things To Do This Weekend

It’s the weekend again and if you’d like to get out and about there’s a lot to get up to in town and beyond over the next couple of days…

FRIDAY

1. If fashion is your thing, then this might be of an interest to you. Killahan NS will host a fundraising Fashion Show at Ballyroe Heights Hotel, Tralee.

Professional models from the Upfront agency, as well as adults and children from Killahan, will all showcase the latest fashions from local shops and boutiques on the catwalk. The show gets under away at 8pm, and children u12s are free. Tickets are €20 while u18s can avail of a €10 student rate.

The fashion ensembles on view will be supplied by the following stores in Tralee and Castleisland:  Gala, Debenhams, Jasmine.  Annbury’s Ladies’ Fashions,  Ryle’s Menswear,  Paco, Parafin, Suits Select,  Pamela Scott, Unique Boutique Castleisland, East 73rd,  Castleisland and Ballybunion, Shindig, Shaws,  Weardrobe, Swamp, Vera Moda , Ella Maria and Mods and Minis.

SATURDAY

2. Top stars of the past to get their game on…

Basketball is flying in town these days so you might want to head to the Masters Basketball Tournament. The action gets under way at 9:30am, at Mounthawk gym, and will feature some top class men’s and women’s teams.

All proceeds of the event this year will go to local charity, Tralee Together Special Olympics, and it plans to be a tournament played in great spirit and fun with finals set to be played on Sunday morning. Check out their Facebook page here for more details

3. If you happen to be jogging by…

If you’re going out for a run on Saturday morning, you might want to check out the Tralee Town Park as the spotlight will be on the members of the Tralee Parkrun as RTE’s ‘Operation Transformation’ show joins up with them for their weekly 5k run.

You can be a part of this event by going to the Parkrun.ie website and getting a barcode which will log your time. This free event takes place at 9:30am.

4.  Get Creative…

If you’d like to find your creative and artistic side, then this might just be for you. Siamsa Tire are hosting a character design workshop, titled Shapeshifters, which will be run by award winning visual artist, Rory Conway.

The workshop costs €5, is for anyone aged 6+ and will run from 11am to 2pm. If you plan on going, you’ll need to book quickly as places are limited. Call Siamsa on 066-7123055.

5. Kerry vs Limerick

If you’re still feeling energetic towards the end of the weekend and would still like to get out, Kerry will take on Limerick in the ALLIANZ Hurling League Division 1B, at Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney, with a throw in at 2pm.

After an excellent performance to beat Laois in the first round match, the Kingdom are on a high and will be well up for this game.
