LOVE Literature Week 2016 is taking place at Presentation Secondary School Tralee this week with an extensive programme of events celebrating all things literary.
Wednesday was the highlight of the week for students for the the Annual Dress in Character Day where students and staff paraded in the Assembly Hall.
Earlier that day, first years can be prepared to be amazed by the one and only Moyvane poet, Gabriel Fitzmaurice between 9 and 11a.m.
On Monday, there was an official gala opening to the week by Radio Kerry’s Weeshie Fogarty, followed by a 5th Year workshop with the award winning poet and writer – John W. Sexton on ‘How to Nail that Essay!’
On Tuesday, Transition Years had a Poetry Slam Workshop Day with high-octane, electrifying internationally acclaimed poet – Mr Brendan Murphy.
Thursday brings a Radio Workshop day where second years can get blown away by RTE’s very own Rhona Tarrant as part of this radio workshop. Also the KDYS Mobile Youth Band will perform at lunchtime for all.
On Friday a session on “My literary life to date….” will feature special guests: Sean Lyons – Poet & former Chairperson of Listowel Writers Week, Johnnie Wall – Raconteur and musician and Breda Joy – writer and journalist with the Kerry’s Eye newspaper.
There will also be a cinema trip to watch Brooklyn for 1st years and 4th years in the Omniplex cinema. Sounds like a great week to be in school.
