SENIORS

Our Senior Team welcomed An Gaeltacht to Ballymac on Sunday last for an important Co. League fixture.
Coming into this game both teams were on six points and facing relegation so a win was vital for both teams.

Ballymac got off to a great start and had a goal and a point on the board within the first 3 minutes, the goal coming from Luke Sweeney and the point from Matthew Galvin.

Two more points from Daniel O Shea and Gene Griffin extended their lead. The game was 14 minutes old when An Gaeltacht registered their first score.

This came form a point from a free by their full forward Daragh O Se. A minute later he brought the visitors back into the game with a goal.

In the 24th minute another point from the full forward left a point between the teams. Ballymac responded with two points from play by Aiden Breen and Cian Counihan. This left the score at half time Ballymac 1.5 to An Gaeltacht 1.2

Padraig McCarthy opened the scoring in the second half with a point from a free . The visitors responded with three points from frees from Daragh O Se.

Aiden Breen and Padraig McCarthy added two more points for the home side and this put three points between the teams 10 minutes into the second half.

Sean O Bambaire reduced the deficit with a point from play. Half way through the second half , a long ball in from Aiden Breen was puched to the net by Padraig McCarthy.

This gave Ballymac some breathing space but An Gaeltacht never gave up and for the next 12 minutes laid siege to the Ballymac goals.

There was points from their centre back Colm O Muircheartaigh , two from Daragh O Se and one from Sean O Bambaire. The margin was down to two points.

A ball in from the wing by Gene Griffin was goaled soccer style by Padraig McCarthy for the home side. Two more points from Daragh O Se for the visitors left the final score at Ballymac 3.8 to An Gaeltacht 1.11

FAOI 12A: Central Region division 1. Ballymac 4-14 Stacks 3-10.
We commenced this competition in great style. Despite missing a number of regular players the boys showed great maturity and skill to overcome a fancied Stacks side. Deputising in goal Eoin Kenny turned in a brilliant performance and stood firm against a number of attacks.

Darragh Leen was industrious as ever and a constant thorn in Stacks side. The effort put in by all was great to see and this group is growing in confidence with each game. Adam Kelly and Cathal Culloty stepped up to the A team on the night and put in sterling games. A well deserved victory for all.

Commiserations and get well wishes to Brian Cassidy who will be out of action for a number of weeks following a fall. Looking forward to seeing you back Brian.

FAOI U12’s

Ballymac Gold Team 2-14 Austin Stacks 1-01
We started our Central Region Div1 campaign last Monday week with a good home victory against our near neighbours Austin Stacks.

Played in lovely sunshine our lads can be very proud of the way they played and the huge effort they put in as we had limited numbers on the night due to a lot of players been on holidays. It was great to see Adam Joy who suffered a hand injury recently come down and support the lads.

Hope to see you back on the field soon Adam. Panel on the night: Adam O Keefe, Donal Daly, Ryan Mc Hugh, Mark O Connor, Denis Brosnan, Andy Rogers, Darragh Sweeney, Maurice O Connell, Thomas O Connor & Padraig O Sullivan. Last Monday evening we were away to An Ghaeltacht and will have a report on this game next week.

ACADEMY

Well done to all our youngsters who attended academy on Sunday morning. The U10 girls had a great training session with Siobhan, where Cathy Palmer, Kerry Hennessy, Roisin Raggett and Lorna Daly were particularly impressive.

U10 boys had Micheal Quirke coaching them for the session and many thanks to him for passing his football knowledge onto the boys. Those who showed up well on the day were Luke Horgan, Aidan Horgan and Tommy Palmer.

The U8 boys were also in action with Sam Slattery, Luke Silles, Jamie Burke and Con Sheahan showing some great skill on the pitch. Many thanks to all who help out every Sunday morning, your hard work, enthusiasm, time and dedication is much appreciated. Mile Buíochas!

There will be no Academy next Sunday due to the Kerry Vs Mayo Semi Final in Dublin.

ROSE BUDS
Congratulations to U10 girl Roisin Rahilly and U8 girl Kate Collins who fulfilled their Rose Bud duties with great distinction last weekend. Both girls had a most enjoyable experience and one which will live with them for years to come!
