IT was certainly a lot of fun in the town centre a few weeks ago and Saturday evening saw young musicians from the town and beyond receive prizes for their efforts in the inaugural Tralee Chamber Alliance Busking Competition.
Taking place on the Mall from Friday to Sunday (Oct 26-27), it was a great way of bringing musical talent to the streets of Tralee. As well as this, many music act performed in the pubs on what was a great weekend, sponsored by Tralee’s publicans.

The contestants were judged on social media views and incredibly, the performances recorded, in all, generated over 200,000 views on all social media platforms.
In the end Lauren Griffin won the first prize of €700, the Breen Brothers were the Peoples Choice with €250. Ger O’Hanlon was 2nd and Donal Lucey third with €250.
The competition is expected to continue next year with a street performance and busking festival sometime in September.
