Paola Kennedy facilitated the programme for Moyderwell’s 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes. Students were introduced to a different activity each week which involved yoga, dance, play and mindfulness and some basic Spanish with an emphasis on breathing and self- regulation techniques, relaxation and meditation and also highlighting the importance of values, resilience, and play. There was a great positive feedback from students, staff and parents .
“This Programme is hugely beneficial to our children and subsequently our family,” said Paola. “Learning to take time for oneself and practicing relaxation and meditation techniques enhances children’s self realisation /esteem development, leading to healthy mental well being coping strategies as they continue on their journey through life. This programme should be included in everyday school curriculum to ensure an enriching holistic learning experience in mind and body.”
“The children used some of the “happy tools” that they learned about at home when they were upset or angry. It helped with self-regulation.”
Principal Moira Quinlan said: “ The students enjoyed the time allocated to learn and play during the Let’s Grow Happier programme with Paola and learned some important skills to help them to cope with day to day living.”
