TRALEE Bay Wetlands won a silver award for ‘Best In A Marine or Environmental’ category at the Irish Responsible Tourism Awards.

The team at the centre were delighted to be presented with the award in this category on Wednesday night last at the Radisson Blue in Dublin. Dolphin Watch in Co Clare won the Gold award in the category.

The Tralee Bay Wetlands Centre has taken a very broad approach to addressing its sustainability; the judges were impressed by its plans for the development of the area through the North Kerry Ecotourism network and look forward to see how the tourism dimension of its work grows.

This is the first year of the Irish Responsible Tourism Awards and the judges were heartened by the strength of the nominations in all categories.

The Irish Responsible Tourism Awards are part of the family of Awards which use the same criteria and judging processes as those used in the World Responsible Tourism Awards which have run since 2004.
