ROSE OF TRALEE, Elysha Brennan, was back in town on Monday afternoon to open up the new, Action Lesotho, charity group bookshop in Tralee Shopping Centre.

The group has been busy moving into the shop over the last couple of weeks. It is hoped the new location at the back entrance of the shopping centre will give them far greater footfall than where they were previously.

This is the second time, Elysha Brennan, has been back to town since she was crowned, Rose of Tralee, and the Meath lady was delighted to be carrying out her duties for a local charity.

“It’s fantastic being down again,” she said. “There’s something very special about the people of Tralee, the warm welcome and how close the hold The Rose of Tralee to their hearts.”

Action Lesotho, are an international NGO based in Tralee which brings humanitarian and development aid to the Kingdom of Losotho in southern Africa. Lesotho is one of the poorest nations in Africa, malnutrition is widespread and the Aids epidemic has reduced life expectancy in the country to 42 years.

The bookshop in the shopping centre is an important source of funds for the group. It is staffed entirely by volunteers and all books are donated by the public.
