Kerry Association London Search For Kerry Person Of The Year

rsz_kal_person_2014THE Kerry Association London has officially launched their search for the next Kerry Person of the Year.

A special committee has been set up to evaluate individuals that have excelled in their support of their local Irish community.

However, they are still urging the public to submit their own nominations by either email, Facebook, Twitter or post.

The selected person will go on to represent the most active county association, during which is expected to be a very busy year for the organisation as it aims to beat its previous fundraising accomplishments.

Danny Sullivan, Chairman of the Kerry Association London, said: “The Kerry Person of the Year must be an active member of the London Irish community and embody similar values to that of the association. We have had a long line of highly influential and successful Kerry People of the Year. It is important to note that we are not just looking for prosperous business people but are looking for those that have made a difference to their community. This can be through their contribution to a charity or as an important volunteer in a community based organisation. This title is accessible to anyone that has made a difference to society and of course has close ties with County Kerry”.

Shelagh O’Connor, 2013 Kerry Person of the Year, said: “It was a real honour to be chosen as Kerry person of the year in 2013 and even more so to be the first Kerry woman chosen.  Having over twenty of my family over from Ireland in October for the Awards started off the year in a truly positive note and that has continued ever since”.

The sub-committee has set a deadline of the 23rd of July for nominations, with the winner to be announced in early August. The London Kerry Person of the Year will be presented with the prestigious Denis Reidy Memorial Shield at the annual Kerry dinner dance at the Crown Moran Hotel on the 24th of October.
The Kingdom, 229 Kilburn High Road, London, NW6 7JG.
