THERE was the usual hustle and bustle during the morning break at Mercy Mounthawk on Friday, but there was something different about the students.
“The school community is celebrating 30 years of Daffodil Day and to mark it we’re having a non-uniform day,” said teacher Sinead Thornton.
The students were asked to bring in €2 each to be able to come in regular clothes and they were encouraged to wear yellow to mark the day that’s in it.

There was also a bakesale in aid of Daffodil Day – the annual Irish Cancer Society fundraiser – by the students.
“We started this four years ago and last year we raised around €2,000, so we’re hoping to top that this year,” said Ms Thornton. A great idea so let’s hope they raise loads of cash to add to the many collections taking place in Tralee, Kerry and around the country on Friday.
