THERE was a massive turnout at Mercy Mounthawk last night as the school held a table quiz fundraiser to help towards the costs associated with the success of the sports teams.
The Centenary Hall was full to capacity for the quiz where participants answered questions on music, sport, local affairs and school related topics.
There’s an air of anticipation around the school with the football team about to contest the Hogan Cup against Omagh CBS on Saturday in Croke Park.

“It has been a tremendous time and people realise how important and historic an occasion it is for the school,” said Principal John O’Roarke, who greeted people last night at the entrance to the school.
“There’s a great sense of energy and enthusiasm and with several buses and the train booked out they”ll have great support. We’ve been bowled over by the level of support in the community and the various clubs.”
“People have responded generously to our appeal and we’re almost at the target in our gofundme page,” added Principal O’Roarke.
In fact, as of this morning, over €20,000 has been raised to support the sports teams, a remarkable effort by the school community. The Hogan Cup Final throws in at 3pm on Saturday and will be screened live on TG4. Best of luck to the lads! Scroll down for photos…
