IT has emerged that the works which have been taking place on the Bridge Street area won’t be completed until the end of the month.
The work on The Mall/Bridge Street project was scheduled to finish on Tuesday, November 21, but it’s clear now that this will not happen and the Council says it’s likely to overrun by about a week.
The paving has only been completed so far up to the entrance to the Square at the corner of the Carraig Donn shop on Bridge Street.

The pavements have been completed on both sides of the road as far as Connollys Jewellers/Caballs Toymaster on one side and Shoezone across the road.
However, the main carriageway in the centre still has to be paved up to Connollys/Caballs, but after consulting with the contractors, the Council is confident that this will be completed by the end of November.
A Council spokesperson said that it is not unusual that a project of this size would overrun the scheduled completion date, but they are conscious of the concerns of traders, especially at this time of the year.
Meanwhile down the street, traffic lights and the large pots which will hold planter trees were installed in the Mall this week.
In all fairness they are doing a great job.
