Kerry County Council Wins Silver Award For The Mall Shared Space

Tralee Municipal District Manager Michael Scannell, Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council Cllr Norma Foley and Kerry County Council Chief Executive Moira Murrell at the All Ireland Community and Council Awards in Croke Park.

KERRY County Council accepted a silver award for Best Disability Access & Inclusion Initiative for The Mall shared space in Tralee, at the All Ireland Community and Council Awards on Saturday night.

The 2019 winners of the awards were announced at a Gala Awards Ceremony on Saturday, February 9 in Croke Park Stadium.

Kerry County Council accepted the Silver Award for The Mall but there were two top awards for the local authority on the night.

A gold medal was presented for the Innovation Hubs which are being developed in Kerry under the category of ‘Best Local Authority Innovation for Attracting Inward Investment.’

The award recognised the work being done by Kerry County Council to develop innovation in the county.

A gold award was also presented to the Kenmare Halloween Howl which is a week-long community festival which takes place every October – this award was presented in the Best Arts/Culture Initiative.

The All Ireland Community and Council Awards presented by IPB Insurance and LAMA, highlight and recognise communities and councils working together, bringing national recognition to projects and developments that may otherwise go unrecognised.

Town, Borough, City and County Councillors across the island of Ireland nominate projects across 20+ categories that demonstrate the work implemented through unique projects that enhance their local area for the good of the community.
