Ballyduff’s Jack Goulding is one of many players  nominated for a Kerry Hurling All-Star.

AFTER the excitement of the Kerry county hurling championship, the standout performers are set to be honoured next month at what has become an annual event in north Kerry.

The Kerry Hurling All-Stars is a not-for-profit event, organised to honour the hurlers who participate in the County Senior Hurling Championship for their dedication to the code, their clubs and to acknowledge the contribution of their families.

They will be held in McElligotts Lounge, Abbeydorney on Saturday, October 8, with tea and coffee at 7.30pm with the presentations beginning at 8pm sharp and concluding at 9.15pm.

Diarmuid Lyng, former Wexford hurler and TG4 hurling pundit, is the special guest along with Andrew Morrissey of Radio Kerry. Kerry Hurling All Stars will facilitate Recovery Haven with fund raising on the night.

The event was the brainchild of Mike O’Halloran four years ago and since then, Mike and Timmy Sheehan have presented the event. Timmy gives a wonderful run-down on each player nominated prior to the announcement of the winner.

The event is funded by the North Kerry hurling clubs and sponsors. This is an open event and admission is free, each player nominated is issued with three tickets for his guests.

The event will this year raise funds for Recovery Haven. If your selection of Player of the Year matches the judges’ selection you could win some prizes.
