A LEGENDARY Tralee footballer’s medal collection has been sold for €40,000 at auction yesterday.
Kerry and Austin Stacks footballer, Joe Barrett’s GAA medal collection went under the hammer at an auction in the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel with a guide price of between €30,000 and €40,000. It is not known who bought the collection.
Fonsie Mealy Auctioneers conducted the sale at The Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel, Ormonde Street, on Wednesday along 800 other lots.
The collection includes a number of medals such as All Ireland Winners Medals, Munster Senior Title Medals, National League, Inter Provincial (The Railway Cup), The Tailteann Games Medals, Memorial Tournament Fund Raiser, Inter County Football and Hurling and War of Independence Medal.
