ARAN are calling for the live goat to removed from this year’s Puck Fair.

ANIMAL Rights Action Network (ARAN) are calling for the live goat to be removed from this year’s Puck Fair in Killorglin which runs from August 10-August 12.

“The puck is a wild animal who doesn’t understand the loud noise, bright lights, and thousands of people in front of him, and he certainly doesn’t understand being hoisted into the air,” said ARAN’s John Carmody, who is asking the people of Killorglin to stand with them in opposition.

“We’re encouraging the festival goers to get with the times and take the puck out of the Fair, because if you wouldn’t do it your dog, why do it to a goat?” he said.

Puck Fair is Ireland’s oldest festival and brings thousands of people to the town over the three days. This year’s King Puck has been under the supervision of an independent vet since he was captured near Castlegregory.

ARAN says that no veterinary inspections will ease the psychological problems the animal will endure.

  1. They want to take the goat down from the tower?

We can’t smoke in the pub.

We can’t cut turf in the bog.

But a man can marry a man.

All I can think of is my da who died 20 years ago. I’d have some job bringing him up to speed if he were alive today.

We’ve taken the reins from the RC crowd and handed them to the PC crowd. I don’t know which is worse.
