ASTELLAS Pharma Ireland is to apply for planning permission for a €330 million facility at the Kerry Technology Park in Tralee.
This major development will pave the way for an innovative aseptic drugs production facility in Tralee to be built by the pioneering global pharmaceutical company.
Currently Astellas Pharma employs approximately 400 people in Ireland. When constructed, the new plant will provide investment for Tralee and bring 110 highly-specialized engineering, science and technology jobs to the county and the region. Around 600 people will be employed during the construction of the building.

Subject to planning permission, construction will commence in 2024, with the site expected to be operational by 2028.
Welcoming today’s announcement, Minister for Education and Kerry T.D Norma Foley said: “I am so very pleased to welcome the announcement by Astellas Pharma Ireland to develop a state-of-the-art, €330 million facility at Kerry Technology Park, Tralee.
“Today’s announcement will provide investment and employment for Tralee, Kerry and indeed the entire south-west region.
“I want to thank Astellas for its vision and ambition and for advancing the project to this point. I would also like to acknowledge Kerry County Council, IDA Ireland, the Shannon Group and all involved who worked collaboratively and collectively to advance the project to this exciting stage.
