PEIL FAOI 9: (i) We gave a great welcome to Castleisland Desmonds this Tuesday (11th), fantastic football was played and everybody had a great time! (ii) Our next GoGames challenge will be v St Senans….information on date/time/venue will be texted to players. (iii) We hope to see you all in Connolly Park next Sunday (16ú Iúil) at 11am.

ALL-STARS: Last Sunday morning’s ALL-STARS session was great. We began with our usual warm up….knees-to-the-skies exercise, walking, jumping jacks, jogging. We did our listening, watching and imitating exercises as well as our social games. We saw brilliant performances by everybody! The football skills’ session was brilliant and so was the obstacle course! Dul chun cinn iontach! Well done, everybody…players and coaches! Parents/Guardians, if you haven’t already done so…..bring your young ALL-STAR along to The Rock, Connolly Park, on Sunday next (16th July). (Cathal Ó Sé)

PEIL FAOI 10/11: (i) More Football-For-Fun at 10.50am next Sunday (16ú Iúil) i gCathair Sailí. Fáilte roimh bhuachaillí nua. (ii) Over a dozen U11 Rock boys will have the opportunity of playing in the Munster U11 Football Blitz i Staid an Ghearaltaigh on Tuesday 18th July. An-scéal!

The Rock lads will be in action at 1pm and will play three short games. Our opposition will be Abhainn a’Scáil, BK Plunketts and Moyvane. The day will also include a stadium tour. BK Plunketts Club: The juvenile sections of two County Cork clubs, Bóthar Buí and Cnoc na Groí, have amalgamated (joined together) to form a new juvenile club called BK Plunketts. The new team is named in honour of the founder of the Co-operative Movement, Horace Plunkett. BK…Boherbue and Knocknagree.

PEIL FAOI 13: (i) Our Central League campaigns kicked off with both the A and B teams in action on Sunday last (9th July). Great credit is due to all involved in managing to put 34 boys out ar pháirceanna imeartha….two teams playing simultaneously and at two different locations. Our B team hosted a strong Milltown/Castlemaine amalgamation in Connolly Park but, unfortunately, the visitors won on a scoreline of 2-16 to 2-4.

However and more importantly, our boys battled bravely to the end in true Rock fashion. Our A team made the short trip to Kileen to play Na Gaeil and secured a nice victory by 0-20…5-12 to 0-7. Training continues on Tuesday and Thursday ahead of the next round of Central League fixtures. (Dan Ahern)

(ii) U13 Central League Division 1….AdeS A: 5-12; Na Gaeil A: 0-7. A great battle was fought by the Gaeil squad and, ultimately, it was some late goals from Austin Stack Club boys that put a bit of gloss on the final score. Congratulations to our Rock ‘young guns’ on a fantastic team performance that had 10 different scorers from play.

The boys continue to give their all in training; they have put in massive work in recent weeks and it’s showing on the playing field.

Their work rate was relentless from start to finish. ‘Well done’ to all! We’ll go into combat again on Sunday next (16th) in Connolly Park and the John Mitchel Club boys will be our opponents. (Kieran O’Flaherty)

(iii) U13 Central League (Round 1)….AdeS B: 2-4; Miltown/Castlemaine: 3-16. It was a tough night at the office for our lads against a very strong Miltown/Castlemaine side. Our opponents started very quickly and had opened up a 10-point lead after 15 minutes but the our boys showed great spirit and kept battling and picked off a couple of good points to leave the Mid-Kerry boys leading by 9 points at the break… 1-9 to 0-3.

On the resumption The Rock lads worked very hard and were rewarded with an excellent goal midway through the half; they were very unlucky not to add another one at that stage, although we did get a second goal before the end.

Milltown added a couple of their own and kicked some good points to leave the final score at 3-16 to 2-4 in favour of our opponents. ‘Well done’ to Milltown on a good win. Our lads will pick themselves up and will dust themselves down; they’ll knuckle down to training and will be ready to go again next week. Up The Rock! (Ed O’Regan)

(iv) Our Central League opponents: our A team is in Division 1 with Na Mistéalaigh, Na Gaeil and Ard Fhearta. Our B team is in Division 6 with Na Gaeil B, Milltown/Castlemaine B and Glenbeigh/Glencar/Cromane B.

PEIL FAOI 15: (i) A successful week on the road for both our teams v Ballymac in the Central League! On Wednesday the A team had a tough game v Ballymac A in Ballymac. In a very tight first half the hosts led by a single point at half-time…0-5 to 0-4.

We had good possession in the 2nd half but we made hard work of our play with as many misses as scores! Thankfully, we plodded on, held tough, fought hard and took the win. An scór deireanach…Ballymac: 0-10; AdeS: 0-14. Foireann A na Carraige: Conor O’Regan; Jamie Casey, Maximilian Grzybowski, Eoin Mangan; David Hobbert, Adam Johnson, Darragh Lyons; Jayden Moriarty, Alex Touhy; Tadhg Falvey, Rory Lynch, Aodhán Horgan; Denis Brassil, Jake Carmody, Jack Diggin; (ionadaithe) Brian Kavanagh, Jack Shanahan.

Well done, boys! We now have achieved two victories in two games in the Central League. Let’s keep this positive stuff going!

(ii) On Friday our B team also travelled to Ballymac for the opening round in Division 5A of the Central League. With lads unavailable (for many reasons) we picked a much changed team from that victorious selection that took part in Division 9 of the County League. With the aid of a very strong breeze we had most of the play in the first half but a late penalty for Ballymac had 1-2 to 0-6 written on the scoreboard at the break. A solid 2nd half performance was given by our stalwarts who stuck to the basics, worked hard, controlled possession and took scores when opportunities arose.

Ballymac played very well also and only the bare minimum separated the teams at the final whistle. An scór deireanach…Ballymac: 2-3; AdeS: 0-10. Peileadóirí B na Carraige: Seán Clifford; Oisín Cotter, Fionn Cotter, Tadhg Sommers; Brian Kavanagh, Jamie Casey, David Mullins; David Hobbert, Ryan O’Carroll; Denis Brassil, Jack Shanahan, Joe Barry; Ewan Canty, Jay Sweeney, Dean Courtney; (ionadaithe) Alex Dafoor, Nathan O’Connor. Well done, boys! Mighty stuff!

(iii) Training will continue over the coming weekend. (iv) We have been scheduled to play two games this week in the Central League….the A team (away) v An Ghaeltacht on Wednesday and the B team (at home) v the John Mitchel Club on Friday. (Ger Hobbert)
