ALL-STARS: (i) We held no All-Star training on Sunday last due to the All-Ireland Final and the numbers travelling to Dublin watch it. Everyone returned home disappointed and people were even more disappointed for our heroes on the pitch who gave their all for the Green‘n’Gold! We are proud of our Kerry seniors…proud of their great dedication and commitment! (ii) Our All-Stars Cúl Camp is on this week.

It takes place on Wednesday 2nd, on Thursday 3rd and on Friday 4th (August)…from 10am to 12.01pm. We are looking forward to seeing all those who have registered. Come along, everybody, and have a brilliant 3 days of fun, fun and football fun! Kits can be collected on Tuesday 1st July at 6 pm at the Austin Stack Club. We can’t wait!! (Cathal Ó Sé).

There will be no semi-finals or finals. (Michael Lynch)

(ii) The Rock had a very good day of football, played in perfect conditions, in Fitzgerald Stadium in the Munster Council’s recent Go Games blitz. The lads played five 11-aside matches….against Annascaul, Moyvane, St Senans and Cork clubs, BK Plunketts and Urhan. (The Urhan club is located in the Béara Peninsula, County Cork). Our senior star, Joe O’Connor, gave the boys a guided tour of the dressing rooms, etc. Thanks to Dónal Daly et al (= and others) for setting it all up. ‘Twas a day to remember! (Colm Ó Mongáin)

PEIL FAOI 13: (a) Central League action resumed last week for both A and B teams. Next up for the A team is Ardfert…in Connolly Park…but our B team boys, following a fine victory over Na Gaeil in Killeen last Friday ( 28th July), wait in anticipation and in confidence to hear who their Central League semi-final opponents will be. Read match reports below.

(b) Team bonding trip: the countdown is on for an exciting outing to the Eclipse Centre in Kenmare on Monday next (7ú Lúnasa, an lá saoire bainc). Many thanks to Ned O’Shea & Sons and John Lane & Sons, our juvenile club-section sponsors, for their very generous support. Bheidís molta dá mbeimis inár dtost. The boys will have great fun bonding in Neidín! Bainfidh garsúin na peile taitneamh agus tairbhe as na gníomhaíochtaí! Enjoy, boys!

(c) U13 Central League Division 1….AdeS A: 2-5; JM A: 3-12. The visitors were deserving winners in Thursday evening’s encounter in Connolly Park. A fast start by the Ballyseedy boys had them in the lead early on le cúl agus dhá chúilín.

The home team (that’s us!) responded with a goal and a point in quick succession leaving the bare minimum between the teams at the end of the first quarter. However, Na Mistéalaigh finished the half strongly and led by 0-7, 2-6 to 1-2, at half-time.

Our lads came out in the second half determined to claw back the deficit. Alas and alack, ochón is mo bhrón, lady luck deserted the brave Black‘n’Amber Brigade!

Despite numerous scoring opportunities for the home side in the second half the visitors kept the scoreboard ticking over and secured victory. ‘Well done’ to the John Mitchel Club boys and thanks to the referee. Next up in the Central League for The Rock boys is Ardfert. The game has been scheduled for Connolly Park on Wednesday evening.

(d) U13 Central League….Na Gaeil B: 1-7; AdeS B: 3-16. As a result of a great 2nd half performance our lads prevailed against neighbours, Na Gaeil, in a cool blustery Killeen last Friday evening. The Rock won the toss and played with the aid of a strong breeze in the first half and that helped them to pick off some lovely early scores.

Na Gaeil refused to go away, they picked off some nice scores of their own and banged in a goal just before half-time. Our lads were 0-4 up…0-10 to 1-03….ag an mbriseadh/sos. Even though we were in the lead, the strong breeze that would be favouring our opponents in the 2nd half was a concern. There was, however, no need for concern!

The lads came out and put in a blistering second half performance and scored 3 great goals. All the while, our defence remained in control, restricting Na Gaeil to a handful of points. So, the game ended 3-16 to 1-7 in favour of the Stacks. Thanks to the Na Gaeil players and management for a very sporting game.

Well done, lads, on a great performance…when you were really strongly challenged you stood your ground, battled determinedly and took the laurels in true Rock style! You can have a well-earned rest now for the weekend and can look forward with confidence to your next outing i Sraith Chiarraí Láir (Central League). (Dan Ahern)

PEIL FAOI 15: (a) It was a quiet week for our U15 teams; we had a break following a very busy and very enjoyable period of Central League games. Our players greatly benefitted from all the training and from the playing of games and they’ve now benefitted from the sos/briseadh beag ón imirt.

(b) We have another project in the pipeline right now….we intend organising and running two fundraisers for U15 teams. Firstly, we’ll request/encourage the boys to take sponsorship/raffle cards and to ‘sell’ lines; there will be some great prizes on offer.

Secondly, we intend holding a table quiz on Friday 11th of August (at 7.30pm) at the Austin Stack Club….€40 for a table of 4; it will be a great social evening and we’ll have lots of spot prizes. We are hoping/requesting/asking that the world and his/her mother will support these efforts to gather a few euro for the benefit of our youngsters! Our young enthusiastic talented boys deserve our best efforts!

(c) Training has been scheduled for Wednesday evening and will continue over the weekend in preparation for the next competitive fixtures….watch out for the group messages for details. So, boys, we’re back to the grindstone….ar ais ag traenáil, ag imirt agus ag buachan cluichí….ar aghaidh linn….in true Rock fashion! (Ger Hobbert)

PEIL FAOI 17: ‘Well done’ to our minors who challenged East Kerry in their Group 1 2ndRound game in Connolly Park. Scór…AdeS: 1-11; East Kerry: 2-9. Team: Stephen Conway; James Fisher, Donnacha Horgan, Ciarán Kavanagh; Seán Heaslip, Fionnán Ryan, Pádraig O’Halloran; Daniel Kirby (0-1), Ben Murphy; Gavin Ó Cathasaigh (0-1), Ronan Carroll (0-3; 2f), Thomas Deregee; Ryan O’Driscoll, Paddy Lane (1-6; 2f), Rory Ó Loinsigh. CIARRAÍ: (i) Sympathies to all the Kerry players, including The Tralee lads (v The Dubs). They all worked so hard and came so close to capturing a 39th All-Ireland! It’s heartbreaking for all but we are very grateful for the heroic dedication shown by our county heroes and for the good example, the great inspiration and the huge uplift that they have given to all lovers of the Green‘n’Gold!

They are our heroes still! We look forward to 2024! The Kingdom will rise again! Beidh lá eile ag an bPaorach! (ii) ‘Well done’ to Mná Chiarraí, including Aoife Ní Dhuilleáin, v Maigh Eo. Best wishes for the final!
