PEIL FAOI 10: 500 players, 60 volunteers, half a tonne of medals, brilliant sunshine and grateful smiles comprised the 7th Annual JOHN LYNCH TOURNAMENT.

From 11.15am on Saturday last, when the first balls were thrown in, to 3.15pm, when the freshly-cooked chips and sausages were being distributed, both Connolly Park and Caherslee became thriving hubs of quality Under 10 football.

The hugely positive feedback from delighted visiting coaches and mentors is a fitting tribute to our tireless volunteers who ensured that the players’ arrivals, the parade between the pitches, the thriving shop, the day’s competitive encounters and the fantastic finals ran smoothly. Táimíd fíorbhuíoch díbh.

We are certain that the success of the 2023 John Lynch Tournament guarantees its bigger and better expansion in the years to come. Na Stacaigh Abú! The support of Cara Credit Union is greatly appreciated by The Rock Club. (D.Ó Loinsigh)

GAELCHOLÁISTE: ‘Not to be’ for our cispheileadóirí in aghaidh Chnoc an tSeabhaic Dé hAoine seo caite but a fantastic win dár n-iománaithe and that was the highlight of an tseachtain spórtúil i nGCC! A hard-fought 0-2 victory in aghaidh Choláiste Pobail Chromadh, i Ráth Caola, sealed by a 0-10 exhibition of stellar hurling by Darren Ó Briain, was enthusiastically celebrated by panel members Gavin Ó Cathasaigh agus Rory Ó Loinsigh. As the Munster quarter final approaches the boys can reflect on a hugely successful séasúr iománaíochta thus far…with even better performances le teacht! (D.Ó Loinsigh)

SCÓR na bPÁISTÍ: All district finals must to be completed by February 25th. The county final of Primary School Scór (Scór na bPáistí) will take place on March 23rd 2024. The competition will end at county level. It has been decided to make a slight change in the running of the county final: competitions will be divided into 3 categories and results will be announced and prizes will be presented after the completion and judging of each category. Category 1: dancing; category 2: music and singing; category 3: storytelling/recitation and sketch. Now is the time to encourage primary school pupils to think about what they might do in Scór na bPáistí.

SCÓR na nÓG: As the next Scór na nÓg (faoi 17) competition will be in Autumn 2024. Coiste Scór Chiarraí plans to organise and run a ‘county only competition’ in December ‘23 or January ‘24 if clubs express interest. All clubs are requested to revert back by November 12th (end of next week) if they’d like to afford their members the opportunity of partaking in this competition. Please send emails to secretary.scor.kerry@gaa.ie. County winners will progress to Munster and All-Ireland level.
