AN GAELCHOLÁISTE: (i) Iománaíocht: Bhí mí-ádh mór ar iománaithe an Ghaelcholáiste i mBántír ar an Déardaoin i gCraobh na Mumhan de chomórtas Chorn Liam Uí Chinnéide. Unfortunately, the gaiscígh shinsearacha were unable to get over the line on the astro turf against a fine Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh opposition. Ní hé sin le rá nach raibh eachtra iontach nó dhó le feiceáil sa chluiche ó Rory Ó Loinsigh, Luke agus Gavin Ó Cathasaigh agus a gcairde, chomh maith le scóranna iontach ó Darren Ó Briain, cúl den ard-scoth ó Gavin Ó Caoimh, sár-thaispeántas ó Dan Ó Maoldomhnaigh, agus cúpla ruathar iontach ó Luke Ó Cathasaigh. Tá foireann láidir fós ann don bhliain seo chugann agus, le cúnamh Dé, beidh a bhfeachtas faoi stiúir an Mháistir Uí Mhurchú i 2024/25 agus beidh sé chomh rathúil céanna is a bhí cluichí na bliana seo! Anois, áfach, ní féidir ach sár-iarrachtaí ár n-iománaithe a mholadh go hard spéire is a rá go mbeidh lá eile ag an bPaorach! ‘Well done’ to the gaelscoil’s hurlers who performed heroically but were unlucky in their Munster U19 E Hurling Final (Corn Liam Uí Chinnéide).

(ii) Peil: Tá Sciath Uí Mhuimhneacháin ar bhord na dtrófaithe sa ghaelscoil don bhliain seo agus tá ardú meanma fachta ag na daltaí dá bharr!

(iii) Peil Faoi 17: Gaelcholáiste are scheduled to play Douglas Community School next week in the Bobby Buckley Cup competition. (Dáithí Ó Loinsigh)

RECYCLING: The Austin Stack Club Ladies (LGFA) Clothing Recycling Fundraiser will take placein the clubrooms on Saturday February 17th from 11.59am to 3.00pm. Only clothing items, footwear, handbags and belts that are suitable for re-sale will be accepted (no…no household linens, bed linen, duvets or pillows). Your support would be appreciated….mórbhuíochas….ba mhó againn bhur dtacaíocht.

SPORTS’ NEWS: Sport’s news on our televisions (RTÉ tv) on Saturday night last showed a few fine snippets from our Division 1 football games, including the Kerry/Derry game. Interestingly, no snippets from our Division 2 games were shown (Tipp, Longford, Carlow, etc) and yet snippets from Division 2 club games (i gcód eile) in GB were shown (as well as Division 1 matches)! Could one question the logic of such broadcasting? Should that time on air not be given to Gaelic football teams (or other Irish sports) in Ireland. If time-on-air was a problem, why ‘cut’ Irish athletes? Should we, the GAA, ask questions on the matter?

KERRY: Sympathies to our county seniors who were pipped by Doire Cholmcille. ‘Well done’ to Joseph Ó Conchúir and Dylan Ó Cathasaigh (what a great goal he scored!) who performed excellently. Go n-éirí go geal leo v Muimhneachán.
