THE GREEN: Our sympathies to The Green Under 19 boys who were unlucky to have lost out to Mercy Mounthawk in the Munster final (Corn Uí Mhuirí). They performed brilliantly throughout the hour and came very close to victory; but it wasn’t to be! They even outscored their opposition…1-5 to 0-6…in the second half! That showed ‘heart’!

They are undoubtedly disappointed but, on reflection and in time, will appreciate the fact that they are, with Mounthawk, at the very top of Munster College football and that their school will have a very good team next year.

‘Tralee CBS’ may well be written on the base of Corn Uí Mhuirí in 2025! Cá bhfios? We congratulate them on a superb performance! Imreoirí na Carraige ar an bpainéal: Tomás Deregee, Fionnán Ó Riain, Rónán Ó Cearúil (1-2 and what a penalty!), Olivier Lata, Seán Óg Ó Brosnacháin agus Ryan Ó Drisceoil. (And we can’t but mention another team member, Máirtín Mac Iomhargáin, who has strong Rock roots!!)

MERCY MOUNTHAWK: ‘Well done’ to the Mercy Mounthawk Under 19 footballers who won Corn Uí Mhuirí last Saturday in Tralee’s Sportsfield (Páirc Aibhistín de Staic).Only a ‘best ever’ performance gave them the cúpla pointe breise (0-3) to put them ahead of their rivals at the final whistle. An historic ‘first’ for the Hill of the Hawk!

Tréaslaímid leo agus, go speisialta, le buachaillí na Carraige….Michael Tansley, James Fisher, Pádraig Ó hAllmharáin, Jack Ó Murchú, Ben Ó Murchú (0-1), Daniel Ó Ciarba, Paddy Ó Laighin (0-8), Noah Townsend, Steven Conway agus Bobby Byrne. We wish them well as they prepare for further challenges and wouldn’t it be nice if the Hogan Cup could be brought from Omagh (Tyrone) to Tralee (Kerry) 2024!? Omagh CBS won it in 2023.
