UNDER 15 LEAGUE WINNERS: The Austin Stack Club U15 footballers at their Medal Presentation Night in Connolly Park on Friday last when they received their 2023 League winners’ medals from Rock and Kerry players Dylan Ó Cathasaigh and Joe Ó Conchúir, Joe and Dylan addressed the successful young players on how to prepare for games as well as how to really enjoy their football. These same U15 players will travel to Cork on Saturday next and will participate in the Nemo |Rangers Football Tournament. An Charraig go deo!

UNDER 15s in the CLUB GYM: (i) Our U15 lads had another busy week….three training days…on Wednesdays, on Fridays and on Sundays. (ii) We had a most enjoyable celebration of last season’s work and play on Friday last in the clubhouse. The 2023 League winners’ medals (Division 9) were presented to our very dedicated and successful players.

Dylan Ó Cathasaigh agus Seosamh Ó Conchúir, peileadóirí na Carraige ar fhoireann Chiarraí, a bhronn na boinn. We thank them for taking time out from their busy schedules to present the medals and, more importantly, to offer some words of wisdom on how our young players should prepare for, take part in and really enjoy their football throughout the rest of the season. (The visit by our Kerry stars to the U15s must have inspired them to play outstandingly v Mayo the following night!

(iii) Players and mentors will travel to Cork on Saturday (24th) for the Nemo Rangers Tournament and that’s always a great day out for Rock boys!! (iv) Our U15s have been drawn in Group 1A of the County League. They’re looking forward to facing Keel/Listry, Kilcummin, Laune Rangers and Na Gaeil. Challenging times ahead! (Ger Hobbert)

MINOR FOOTBALL: (i) A Team….‘well done’ to our A boys in the Keane’s SuperValu (not Páirc Uí Chaoimh!) Minor County League v (Rathmore) which was played in Páirc Uí Chonghaile last Sunday.Division 1A teams…Na Stacaigh A, An Léigiún, An Ghaeltach, Lios Tuathail, An Ráth Mhór, Spá Chill Airne.

(ii) Team B:…‘well done’ to our B lads who played their opening game last week v Killarney Legion B in Caherslee. Division 8 teams: Division 8…Na Stacaigh B, Neidín B, An Léigiún B, Cill Choimín B, Lios Tuathail B.

THE GREEN: (i) ‘Well done’ to The Green boys who were scheduled to play their Russell Cup competition encounter v Coláiste Naomh Mícheál (Lios Tuathail) on Wednesday last (21st).
(ii) The Green hurlers challenged Causeway Comprehensive in the GARY SCOLLARD U16½ A final on Tuesday (27th).

MERCY MOUNTHAWK: Best wishes to the Mercy Mounthawk Under 19 footballers who, having won Corn Uí Mhuirí, will face Nás na Ríogh CBS on Saturday. Buachaillí na Carraige ar phainéal Chnoc an tSeabhaic….Michael Tansley, James Fisher, Pádraig Ó hAllmharáin, Jack Ó Murchú, Ben Ó Murchú, Daniel Ó Ciarba, Paddy Ó Laighin, Noah Townsend, Steven Conway agus Bobby Byrne. We wish them well.

SCÓR: (i) The county final of Scór na Sinsear will take place on Friday 22nd March. Oifigeach cultúir, Carmel O’Neill; dates for the Tralee area 1st round have yet to be decided. (ii) The county final Scór na bPáistí (primary school pupils) will be held on Saturday 23rd March; all district winners will go straight into a newly structured county final. (iii) Scór na nÓg (U17) will take place later in the year.

MTU: ‘Well done’ to our Rock lads on the MTU football panel, Luke Chester, Joey Nagle, Armin Heinrich, Eoin O’Carroll, Conor Horan and Dean Rusk who reached the final of the Trench Cup.

ATHCHÚRSÁIL: Thanks to all who supported the Ladies’ Clothing Recycling Fundraiser.

SEÁN Ó SÉ: Kerry footballer, Seán Ó Sé, has been chosen as the GAA’s Irish language Ambassador for 2024. Part of his role will be to support and help promote GAA Irish language schemes, initiatives and events….mar shampla ‘Cuaille’ (the GAA’s online magazine…look it up!), Lá Mór na Gaeilge, Fondúireacht Sheosaimh Mhic Dhonncha and the GAAgaeilge GoGames that will be held in Croke Park later in the year.
