PEIL FAOI 13: (i) Tralee/St Brendans Board U13 League…fixtures/results/report:
DIVISION 1 results:
AdeS: 3-5; Ardfert: 3-10;
Na Gaeil: 1-12; AdeS: 2-3;
Na Mistéalaigh: 2-8; AdeS: 0-7. This game, played i bPáirc na Mistéalach in Ballyseedy on Sunday last (19th), was a humdinger and was only settled in the exciting nail-biting closing minutes.
The Green‘n’Goldswon the toss and played with the elements in the 1st half. Our boys opened the scoring with a fine point. The game flowed to and fro and, midway through the half, Na Mistéalaigh had opened a two point gap. It was tit-for-tat ar pháirc ghlas na himeartha in an evenly-matched encounter and at half-time the scoreboard showed 0-4 to 0-3 in favour of the JM boys.
The opening score of the second half was by the JMs who restored their two-point advantage. However, the next 15 minutes belonged to the Black‘n’Amber brigade as our lads rattled the hosts with tenacious defending, excellent support play and fast-paced attacks. Pure Rock football!
The result of this was that our brilliant boys lead by one single solitary point with ten minutes remaining….0-6 to 0-5. The Rock had a few chances to be further in front as we entered the closing stages but, ochón ochón, it was the hosts who grabbed the all-important goal when the ball ricochetted into the net after goalmouth scramble.
Another late late goal put a disappointing gloss on the scoreline in a game that was 50/50 throughout. Ní mar a shíltear a bhítear!
‘Well done’ to the host club team and ‘thanks’ to the referee for his excellent handling of the game in difficult conditions. Austin Stack Club Player-of-the-Match: Billy Kirby was in excellent form and launched many a good Rock attack.

COLÁISTÍ: The Gaelcholáiste Faoi 15 team prepared for a late-season encounter with a teak-tough Tarbert Comprehensive outfit maidin Dé Luain na seachtaine seo caite. It was a pitched battle as the Tarbert side drew ahead early on but ár ridire Stacach, Rory Ó Loinsigh (lár na páirce), le tacú iontach óna chairde, played a warrior’s game and narrowed the margin. Ní raibh rith an ráis ag na coláisteánaigh, afách, and ref’s final whistle blew in favour of Tarbert. (Bhuaigh siad le sé phointe). The Gaelcholáiste team lads lick their wounds in the knowledge that they provided a resoundingly solid performance. Tiocfaidh sibh chugaibh fhéin, a laochra…bígí muiníneach!
