ALL-STARS: There was a great buzz last Sunday morning at the All Stars’ training session as we had very special guest coaches. Three Rock footballers who have worn the Green‘n’Gold of Kerry with distinction came along to give their support, time and knowledge to our young players; Joe O’Connor, Ferdia O’Brien and Seán Quilter were on hand to put our youngsters through their paces in very enjoyable coaching session…..bouncing, handpassing, point scoring practice and even a penalty shoot-out! Of course there was the usual warm up and cool down fun and games….bhí spórt ag gach éinne. Thanks to our club stars for offering their support to our initiative; they gave the children great encouragement and motivation for the future. A big ‘thank you’ to all involved in the arrangement and, go speisialta, to our head coach, Richie Conway, who as always was on hand to ensure that everything went according to plan. If your child wants to be part of our group or if you want any more information join us for training next Sunday at 10am at The Rock Club in Connolly Park. New members always welcome. Míle fáilte is fiche! (Cathal Ó Sé)

PEIL FAOI 13: Both our U13 teams resumed their County League campaigns with fantastic team performances against good Legion teams on Sunday last (16th) in Connolly Park. Our B team boys continue on their winning ways….good men!….and our A team put in a heroic performance to earn a draw against a highly renowned Legion outfit.

(i) U13 County League (Phase 1) Division 1….AdeS A: 3-8 (17); Legion A: 3-8 (17). Our A boys resumed their County League campaign on Sunday last in Connolly Park v Legion with an enthralling contest in which both teams shared the points. Despite a two week break, the Austin Stack Club boys showed no signs of rustiness as they flew out of the blocks against a highly fancied Legion outfit.

A first minute goal set the tone for a five-star 1st half performance by the Rock boys; the visitors had no answer to The Rock power and our lads lead by 0-6 at the break….1-5 to 0-2. The Killarney mentors made a few positional switches ag am sosa and they showed why they are such a highly regarded team; they scored 1-4 within 10 minutes of the restart and cut the deficit to 0-2 as the game entered its final quarter.

The game seemed to turn decisively in Legion’s favour when a fortuitous second goal put them ahead for the first time in the game.

Indeed, the final result appeared to be settled with 5 minutes to go when Legion broke up the field and grabbed their third goal that gave them a five point lead. However, what this Austin Stack Club team delivered in last two minutes will live long in the memory of those fortunate to have witnessed it.

Not one but two goals, in the last 90 seconds, appeared to have secured a brilliant victory for the Black‘n’Amber brigade. Alas and alack, Legion had the final say and earned a free to secure a draw with the very last kick of the game. An epic!

Credit to all players on both sides for serving up such an entertaining hour of football that was played throughout in the right spirit!

Thanks to Legion for a game that will live long in the memory and thanks to the referee for his handling of the game. Player-of-the-Match: Danny Lane, our hat-trick hero who epitomised the never-say-die spirit of the team.

Training…at 5.15pm on Tuesday.
Kilcummin are scheduled to be our visitors and challengers in Connolly Park on Thursday evening.
Foireann A v Legion: David Ahern; Blake Bowler, Michael Carmody, Diarmuid Hennessy; Oisín Horan, Shea Horan, Luke Kavanagh; Billy Kirby, Danny Lane, Tadhg Lucey, Conor Maguire, Dylan McEvoy; Conor Murphy, Jayden O’Dowd, Ryan O’Flaherty, Tadhg O’Regan, Noah Reidy, Mark Riordan, Ediart Topali.

(ii) U13 County League Division 9….AdeS B: 5-12; Killarney Legion B: 3-4. It was a lovely evening for football in Connolly Park on Sunday evening last and our lads got things off to a flyer. From the first whistle the team was up and at it, they played some lovely football and they lead by 0-11 ag an mbriseadh….1-9 to 0-1. Powerful stuff!

It was more of the same in the 2nd half with some fine scores from our midfielders and forwards and all the while our defence was on top. The Killarney lads, to their credit, never gave up and surprised us by adding a couple of goals towards the end. Thanks to the Legion coaches and players for a competitive and sporting game.

This was another great performance by this young Stack Club team. ‘Well done’ to the full squad! Our boys played with great passion and energy, are now ‘two for two’ in the County League and can look forward to their remaining fixtures with confidence.

Our brilliant B boys: Blake Bowler; Eliot Calleja, Gearóid Corcoran, Kian Cronin; Ethan Cushen, Tom Dawson, Mark Foley; Conor Hanafin, Diarmuid Hennessy; Shea Horan, Luke Kavanagh, Séamus Keenan; Tadhg Lucey, Harry Maguire, Dylan McEvoy; Zac Moore, Darragh Moriarty, Matthew Murphy, Joe O’Halloran, Oran O’Regan, Gerard Teahon.

Kilcummin…our visitors and opposition in Connolly Park on Thursday evening.
Thanks to everyone who, in true club spirit, helped out in various ways…teas and coffees in the clubhouse, looking after the jerseys, taking photos, writing match reports and, most importantly, umpiring. (Dan Ahern)

FAOI 15: (i) We had a disappointing start to the week, on the back holiday, with our B team’s loss at home to Listowel Emmets in Division 9A of the County League.

Unfortunately for us, Listowel could only field 13 boys and, so, that left us, once again, with a large number of boys on the sideline. However, we had a positive start, held control of the first half and lead at the break…2-5 to 0-3.

Substitutions were made at half-time to give boys as much game time as possible but, ochón agus ochón ó, we lost our way! A spirited 2nd half performance by Listowel Emmets allowed them take total control of the tie and they finished the game as winners on a final scoreline of 3-5 to 4-12.

A serious wake up call for all of us as we tried to serve two masters but we did what we thought best for the team.

(ii) Wednesday night’s County League games were cancelled due to the bad weather. These games have now been rescheduled for May 3rd when the A team will be at home to Keel/Listry and our B team will be away to Kilcummin.
(iii) The A team has a home tie against Ballymac on Wednesday 19th.
(iv) The B team has a bye in the County League this week.
(v) Our training sessions on Friday and Sunday will, finally, take place back at our home base in Connolly Park and, boys, full attendance is expected, le bhur dtoil. (Ger Hobbert)
