AUSTIN Stacks will play in the county senior championship next year after a 2-10 to 1-6 win over Laune Rangers in Lewis Road, Killarney this afternoon.
It’s a sad day for Laune Rangers, a club which jointly holds the most county championship title wins (12) with the Rock side, as they are now down to intermediate status after the round 3 relegation match.
Goals from David Mannix and Denis McElligott in the first quarter helped the Tralee side into lead they never relinquished from the 13th minute onwards.
Stacks pulled away early in the second half with Kieran Donaghy, Greg Horan and Shane Callaghan among the scorers.
It’ll be a huge relief for Stacks and their supporters who have a county league final to look forward to.
We’ll have a full report and photos from the game tomorrow.
