Round 7 of The County League Sat June 16th

Dromid Pearses 1-14 Ballymac 0-12

Ballymac’s long journey to Dromid on Saturday night in Division 2 of the County League proved fruitless after the home side came away with a narrow victory .

The teams were level at 7 points apiece at the break thanks to points from the returning Daniel O’Shea, Genie Griffin, Aidan Breen and a superb Vinny Horan effort as well as a brilliant point blank save from Padraig Laide. Ballymac started the second half well and surged ahead through further points from O’ Shea, Breen and Horan and going into the final 10 minutes the away side led by one. However Dromid finished much the stronger, scoring 1-3 without reply to take the spoils on home turf.

This was a very disappointing result for Ballymac who, despite missing a number of regulars, seemed comfortable in the match for long periods however they will regret the final ten minutes when Dromid assumed control and finished much the stronger.

Best for Ballymac on the night were the Sweeney brothers, Luke and Michael, Con Reynolds, Vinny Horan and the excellent Darragh Keane. This is a very young Ballymac team which contained four minors in the starting 15 in the shape of Josh O’Keeffe, Tadgh Brick, Cathal Dunne and Keane and all four acquitted themselves excellently in what is a very difficult venue. Also a special mention to Darragh Regan who togged out in the middle of his Leaving Cert.

Team: Padraig Laide, Josh O’Keeffe, Tadgh Brick, Michael Sweeney, Cian Counihan, Con Reynolds, Luke Sweeney, Michael Herlihy, Cathal Dunne, Darragh Keane, Aidan Breen, Genie Griffin, Vinny Horan, Padraig McCarthy, Daniel O’Shea. Subs: Darragh Regan, David Keane, Alan Bonn, James Carmody,

Academy

Last Sunday morning at academy we held a “come play with me” which encouraged parents to participate in the training with the children.
It was a great success as many parents joined in the session and contributed greatly to the morning.
The highlight came at the end when the adults took on the children  in a game with many of the older participants showing the younger folk the finer skills of the game.
Many thanks to Coaching Officer Roland Rogers for his organisation of the morning andthanks to all the parents, volunteers and mentors who made last Sunday’s “come play with me” such a great event. Hopefully we will run another session during the year
