Juvenile Academy

U6: The rain stayed away this morning & we had another fun session. After fundamental ball skills we worked on speed, long kicking & tackling. Match play is improving, now working on defense & attacking formation. One player who has consistently tried hard & improved his skills is Thomas Higgins.. today our well-deserved player of the week.
Keep up the fun practice at home: one fun game we worked on today is have 2 players facing same way, the player behind throws the ball straight over the front players head. The front player has to run as soon as they see the ball & catch it before it bounces twice. That player then throws the ball over the front players head for their turn.
See you all next week

U8: Congratulations to Bruce McMillan who was our Under-8 player of the week at last week’s Academy session, well done Bruce. Bruce also played a starring role in the U8 Blitz hosted by the Ardfert Club last Friday evening. We travelled to Ardfert with a depleted squad however all our players put great effort into the three games they played. Whether it was the shot blocking and tackling by Tommy Costello, the enthusiasm of Isaac Price, the competiveness of Hugh Costello, the dynamism of Stephen Enright , the kicking by Ryan Fitzgerald or the support play of Bruce all of them contributed to a superb team performance. Thanks to the Ardfert Club for hosting the blitz and providing us with some additional players.

U10: A great training session was enjoyed by our boys and girls in training last Sunday morning and it is great to see them having fun whilst learning their skills. It is very important that parents bring their kids to training to learn their skills and also encourage them to practice at home.

U12: St Pats U-12’s were in Co League action last Sunday. We travelled deep into north Kerry and came away with a good victory against on a very young Finuge team. All our St Pats future stars did their club proud on the night. The whole team put in a great effort and their teamwork was a joy to watch during the entire game.

Rory Kelliher in goals, Eddie Stack, Zach Howarth, Orlaith Murphy, Diarmuid Waugh defended brilliantly at the back. Daniel Sheehy, Fionn Dairo and Emmanuel Bramkovic all covered every blade of grass around the middle and linked up well with the backs and forwards. Up Front our forwards definitely had their shooting boots on. We had some brilliant scores from Rachel Mulgrew, Killian O’Mahony, Conor Daly, Darragh Murphy, Michael Enright. With only one game left in the Co League game, it’s important ye all continue to attend our training sessions and also keep practicing yer skills at home during the week. The training and match schedule for the week will be circulated to ye shortly. Naomh Pádraig Abú !!

Senior B Team

Our next match has been tentatively fixed for Friday, 22nd of June when we welcome An Ghaeltacht to Blennerville in Round 4 of the County Junior Football League, Group 4 at 7.30pm. Your support will be most welcome.

Seniors

St Pats failed to close the gap against league leaders and West Kerry neighbours, Annascaul when the two sides met last Sunday afternoon in Paddy Kennedy Memorial Park for a round 7 Division 3 County League encounter as the home side took all the points in this very physical game.

St Pats were the brighter side very early in the game when Liam Poff, winning the ball from the throw-in and his pass found Eoin Greaney, who turned his marker to point in the first minute. This was quickly followed by Kieran Dwyer’s long range effort from over 50 metres as the away side settled in. This lead wasn’t for long as Annascaul levelled only for St Pats to score the next four points unreplied. Annascaul hit back with 2 goals and a point from Jason Hickson as the away side took a narrow point lead to the break.

Paul McMahon levelled again as early ss the second minute from a well-constructed series of passes. Annascaul for the 4th time in the match equalised and went ahead after scoring 1-02 within a 9 minute period to lead by 6 after only 15 minutes of the half played. Willie Hurley pointed from close range to reduce the deficit and as the team threw bodies forward, our back line was left exposed which Annascaul capitalised on by scoring the 4th goal which Fizzy could do nothing about as the home side further stretched their lead. St Pats were awarded a penalty late in the game when Eoin O’Carroll was fouled inside the small square and up stepped Breandáin Savage to slot home past Tommy Pierce and Gary Savage also scored an injury time goal but this was not enough as the home side ran out comfortable winners on a score of 5-8 to St Pats 2-13

St Pats: John Fitzgerald, Cillian O’Riordan, Tommy Lynch, Shane Doyle, Kieran Dwyer (0-1), Luke Mulligan, Jeffrey Foley, Liam Poff, Paul McMahon (0-1), David O’Callaghan (0-4, 4f), Breandáin Savage (1-0), Gary Savage (1-0), Eoin Greaney (0-3), Willie Hurley (0-4, 3f), Eoin O’Carroll.

Subs: Jake Foley for Shane Doyle

There will be no game at the weekend due to Kerry’s involvement in the Senior Munster final against Cork.

Best of luck to the team, especially the St Pats contingent of Frank O’Brien (selector), Fergal O’Brien and Ali Gardezi.
