Development League Div 2 Final
Ballymacelligott 1-15 Listowel Emmets 1-09

Photo shows Kevin Sweeny Captain with the winning trophy, Ballymac Development Squad, and selectors last Friday night in Kileen following their win.

Ballymac led from the beginning in this high-scoring final played in Kileen on Saturday evening last. Listowel came within two points on a few occasions but Ballymac always extended the lead to go on and win.

Twelve minutes into the game and Ballymac had 1-05 on the scoreboard without any score from the opposition. To their credit, Listowel came back and scored 5 points in the last eight minutes of the half.  Ballymac went into the break 1-08 to 0-05 in the lead.

Three minutes into the second half, Listowel scored a goal lesson leaving three points between the teams. Another point from Listowel and we had a game on.

We had tit-for-tat point-scoring until five minutes were left on the clock: Ballymac 1-12 to Listowel 1-8. Ballymac put the heads down, lifted their game, and scored three more points to finish off deserving winners on a score-line of 1-15 to 1-09.

Captain Kevin Sweeney was presented with the winning trophy and it was a nice end to a year of hard work and training by this young side.

Credit to The County Board for running this vital and so important competition for young Club players. A competitive match beats training any day. It gives focus and room for learning and improvement.

The growth shown by this team as individuals and as teammates was a delight to behold. This was the true “trophy” for our club; keeping our young lads playing together and improving as well.

Thanks to all the players who gave their time and energy to the Ballymac Development Squad, to the Management team of Sean Brosnan, Tony Silles, Mike Sweeney & Tom Shea, and to all our loyal supporters who came to watch the team and got behind them at every game.

We wish a speedy recovery to our injured players. We look forward to having you all back on the pitch shortly. Ballymac Abú.

St. Kierans

Best of luck to St. Kierans tomorrow Monday evening, especially all our Ballymac Players who are part of the team in the second round of The Acorn Life U-21 Football Championship this Monday evening at 7.30pm in Knocknagoshel as they take on Austin Stacks.

Tickets to be purchased before hand

Academy

The pitch was alive with the sound of laughter and fun this morning as all our young stars were delighted to be back training after the bad weather last week caused Academy to be cancelled. Our coaches can see how all our young players are improving every week and want them to continue to practice at home.

Under 9s

Our u 9s played both Currow and Killorglin away in the last week in the u 9 Go Games .
These were two excellent games and the games will stand to our boys as they continue to show great development and progress .
Some players to impress were Ryan Kelliher , Rian o Connor Ross Sugrue Isaac lynch Jason Mc Donnell Niall Moriarty Shane o Connell Kyle o Sullivan Cuan Maguire Evan Hannah and Taylor Brosnan  .
We are due to play the Spa Killarney and Ardfert next in the coming weeks.
We advise all players to practice at home with their skills and to join the summer Cul Camps if not joined already .
Thanks to all parents for attending and supporting both teams against Currow and Laune Rangers .

Under 15 Boys

In the first round of the Div 1 Central Region, Ballymac were against An Gaeltacht in the first-round encounter.

Ballymac & Gaeltacht were very much equal in the initial stages until Eoin Moriarty suffered an injury which meant he needed to retire from action.

Ultimately, goals were the difference in this encounter with a final score of Ballymac 1-10 – An Gaeltacht 5-14
