Ballymac Senior B football

Ballymac 3-06

St Michaels Foilmore 1-12

Both teams get another day out after a very well contested game between two even teams, huge credit to St Michaels Foilmore on their sporting gesture to delay throw in, allowing Ballymac to field our compliment of just 15 players.

St Michaels got off to the better start and dominated the first half but a fantastic goal from Darragh Regan on the stroke of half time leaving the score 1 06 to 1 02 in favour of the opposition at the interval.

A more organised Ballymac side, fuelled by our timely goal before half time put in an excellent second half performance holding the opposition to one point from play and with Darragh Regan and Padraig Mc Carthy getting us the 2 vital goals in the second half Ballymac came away with a well-earned and deserved draw.

Many thanks to all our supporters that made the trip to Glenbeigh.

Replay of Cahill Cup final is scheduled for Saturday 23rd Sept at 5.00 pm – venue tbc

Keep an eye on our social media and venue will be confirmed

Sam Maguire

There was fierce excitement at the grounds on Sunday morning as we welcomed the Sam Maguire along with Paudie and David Clifford, who gave their time to sign jerseys and take many pictures.

They were welcomed by members of our various age groups from under 5 to minors. We were also joined members of the O’Shea/Clifford families who have had long association with Ballymac.

We had many of our past chairpersons in attendance also which really added to the occasion.

It would not have been possible only for the hard work of our members, many thanks to all the parents that brought the goodies.

U5 Academy Report

A wonderful turnout of our U5 academy squad this weekend. Our youngest players focus this week was on honing their fundamental movements and kicking accuracy. For our “veteran” players it was hand passing and kicking drills.

Both squads also played their own mini matches where the competitive spirit is strong! And no Ballymac U5 session is complete without fun and games – the much-requested return of Sharks and Fishes and a Players Vs Coaches Rollerball were the highlight for all.

Under 8 & under 10 girls

On Sunday 18th September our U10 & U8 girls played 2 teams against Austin Stacks who travelled out to our training pitch. In glorious sunshine our girls put on a wonderful performance. Our younger side pulled out all the stops and showed off all their hard work put in at training and scored goals and points galore.

All 16 of them showcased huge improvement in handpassing and team participation. Our older girls managed to outscored their opposition in each quarter. They displayed enormous commitment on the field and left no ball unchallenged. All 18 of our older girls played very well and were delighted with their performance.

Huge thanks to our coaches & parents and also to Sean Hennessy, Una Kerins, Ellie McElligott and John Leen for helping us out during the games.

Training resumes as normal next Sunday in the Main Pitch at 10am.

Under 11 boys

On Saturday morning we travelled to our neighbours Castleisland Desmonds for Rd 2 of the U11 Castleisland District go games. A fine sunny morning for football but missing a few regulars we started a bit sluggish and Desmonds took an early lead with a long-range goal.

Parity was restored soon after with a goal from Jack and a point from Finn.  We dominated the rest of the half and led by 6 at halftime. With the 5-goal rule in effect the second half consisted of some lovely long-range points from Aidan and Flynn.

With Jake, David and Tom minding the house and Rory, Daithi and Finn controlling the middle 3rd we created plenty scoring opportunities for the forwards and we ran out deserved winners on a score line of 5.11 to 3.10. Ballymac Abu

Under 13 boys

Both our U13 boys teams had a good week on the pitch.

Our gold team defeated Cromane/Glencar in their Central Region at home on Tuesday 1-10 to 0.08 to progress to the final in 2 weeks’ time.

Our blue team had a comprehensive win over Knock/Brosna in the Castleisland District semi-final 3-20 to 0.08 on Sunday to also progress to that final. A busy week lies ahead for all the boys with both teams facing Na Gael in the Tralee Town League mid-week and a team travelling to Newmarket on Saturday for the Diarmuid o Brien blitz.

Fingers crossed our run of good form will continue – Ballymac Abu

Under 15 boys

Central Region Div 5 Final

Ballymac Gold 9-14

Austin Stacks B 1-08

Our Div 5 final finally took place on Monday last in Ballyrickard Tralee and what a final it turned out to be for our boys.

When we met the opposition in the group game there was only 2pts between us, but what a performance from our young boys in this final, it was very tight in the 1st half with both teams trying to get a grip on the game and it was Ballymac who hit the 1st goal with Luke Griffin hitting the back of the net, Stacks came back at us and scored a goal themselves but on the stroke of half time Conal Savage stole the ball from the Stacks keeper and made no mistake in hitting the back of the net to put us up by 2pts at half time, Sean Martin had 3 lovely points kicked in the 1st half also.

The 2nd half was a totally different story with Ciarán o Connell and a man of the match performance from Stephen Turner driving our lads on and we hit 3 goals in quick succession by our full forward Luke Griffin who would finish the night with 6-02 in total, Stacks could not keep up with our boys in the 2nd half and we ran out comfortable winners to the delight of our loyal supporters.

Best on the night for Ballymac were, Stephen Turner, Sean Martin, Luke Griffin, Ciarán o Connell, Conal Savage, Matthew Rogers and Sam Slattery in defence, a big thanks also to John Leen in goals who was injured and did not want to miss the game.

Final Squad

John Leen, Cian Gilroy, Tommy Walsh, Matthew Rogers, Jamie Tarrant, Sam Slattery, Maurice Harrington, Stephen Turner, Jack Collins, Shane Brosnan, Ciarán o Connell, Conal Savage, Sean Martin, Luke Griffin, Con Sheehan, Darragh McMahon, Fionn Enright, Jackson Brosnan, Liam Rahilly, Ryan Burke and Gearoid Healy.

Castleisland District

Ballymac 4-23

Knock/Brosna 3-08

.

We started our Castleisland District campaign with a well-earned win away in Knocknagoshel on Wednesday evening last.

Our lads were a bit rusty having not played together since before the District Championship, we soon settled down and kicked some lovely scores and went in well ahead at HT.

In the second half we made a few changes and also some positional changes which kept the lads on their toes, credit to Knock/Brosna in the 2nd half where they never gave up and kicked some great goals.

All and all a well-deserved win, we play Scartaglen at home Thursday evening @6.15pm and a win here will see us reach the District final.

Mothers and Others
