Academy

Message from Coiste Na nÓg Chairman

Sunday morning saw the club academy come to a close for 2022. Blessed with a fine sunny morning, all our boys and girls enjoyed their Sunday morning coaching session with our club academy coaches.

A huge thank you to all our hard working and committed Sunday morning coaching crew. Especially to Stephen O Brien, Jeff Griffin and Joanne Long in the shop, for making sure everything is open and ready each morning.

We must not forget to thank the players of course who have attended Sunday mornings, and their parents for having them there on time, and kitted out in our club colours.

A special mention to the boys and girls graduating from the academy this year after five or six years honing their skills in the academy and wish them the best of luck when they progress to under 11 and 12 teams next year.

Thanks also to our very own Niall Collins for presenting the medals to all the boys and girls. It wasn’t that long ago when Niall was attending academy each Sunday morning, and this year had the honour of representing himself, his family and the club with the Kerry minors.

We hope to see everyone again in the Spring of 2023 and hope all boys and girls don’t forget to practice at home over the winter months.

Kieran Savage

Ballymac Gaa Coiste Na nÓg Chairman.

U 9 Boys

Our u 9 Boys had our final session of 2022 at the main pitch on Sunday morning. There was a great turnout as usual and the boys had a full game for the session. Their skill level has improved so much from the start of the year, great credit to all boys for their commitment and dedication throughout 2022.

Trophies were presented to all players who were graduating to u 11 s next year. Medals were presented to u the u 8 players. Thanks to Kerry minor and former Ballymac academy player Niall Collins for presenting both medals and plaques to all players. Thanks to all parents for your support throughout 2022. Thanks to Ballymac Coiste na Nog for all the support during the year Looking forward to seeing all the players back again in 2023.

U11 Boys

Yesterday evening saw our last training session for u11 boys. They worked hard all year and will end the season with a fun non-competitive blitz next Saturday 29th October in Ballyrickard, Tralee.

The coaches would like to thank the parents and boys for their continued commitment. See you all next year. Ballymac Abú!

Under 15 Boys

Ballymac v John Mitchels – Semi Final – Tralee/St Brendan’s Board District Championship

Our Under-15 team played in the semi-final of the Tralee/St Brendan’s Board District Championship versus John Mitchels, in Mitchels on Sunday morning.

The opening 10 minutes were competitive with both sides exchanging scores but as the half progressed, our boys got more into their grove on a nice autumn Sunday morning ideal for football with little breeze. The Half time score was 1.14 to 0-03 in favour of Ballymac. All of our six forwards scored in the half with 9 players in total getting on the scoresheet in the opening half.

In the second half, Ballymac continued to play some nice football with some great scores but notable mention for Cian Harris who pulled off a number of outstanding saves in goals. Final score in John Mitchels GAA, Ballymac 1-26 John Mitchels 0-6.

Ballymac now proceed to the final of the competition with date/time/venue tbc in the coming days.

Keep an eye on social media for updates.

Ladies Notes

AGM

Our Ladies AGM will be on Monday 28th November. Two positions have to be filled as Chairperson Seán Hennessy and Registrar Emma Sweeney’s 3-year term is up. Any motions for the AGM please send to Deirdre Millane, Secretary at ballymacelligott.kerry@lgfa.ie . It would be great to have a large attendance as we build for the future.

Divisional County Championship U15’s

The St. Kieran’s U15 side was first into action on Saturday afternoon at 4.30pm in Cordal, where they faced the heavily fancied Tralee District. Our ladies put in a fantastic performance and emerged victorious on a score line of 5-4 to 1-9. Next up is a very strong Mid Kerry, in the Semi Final away.

U17’s

A strong St. Kieran’s U17 side (with three Division 1 clubs) travelled all the way to Ballydavid/Gallarus to take on West Kerry. While it was even stevens for the first 10-15 minutes after that St. Kieran’s started to pull away with some excellent point taking and numerous goal chances, finishing 3-27 to 0-9 winners. Next up is North Kerry away in the Semi Final.

U13’s

Last into action this weekend was the St. Kieran’s U13 Ladies who played one of the competition favourites in North Kerry at Knocknagoshel. A first half underperformance cost us and the huge second half was not enough for us to turn it around, resulting in a 4-12 to 1-11 loss. This leaves us at home in the Shield Semi Final v losers of South Kerry v East Kerry.

Ballymac GAA Health and Wellbeing

Our Mothers and Others have enjoyed a fantastic first season! We played a Blitz in Mallow and one in Milltown-Castlemaine. We also played a game against Legion. This bunch of Ballymac women are now hanging up the football boots in place of dancing shoes for some Winter training! Zumba begins in O’Brennan school Hall on Tuesday at 8.15pm for 4 weeks. Places are full at the moment but text Oonagh 087-7532949 if you want to be added to group.

Our community walking track now has 3 benches in situ to enhance your walking experience. Thanks to Geoffrey Riordan and Family who sponsored 2 benches. Daly and Sons, Ballymac made the benches and also sponsored one. Ballymac Health and Wellbeing appreciate this local support in building a healthier community for all. #healthyclub #communitymatters
