Report from AGM Continued

U11 Boys

Our training returned on the 16th of February above in the I.T. Tralee for a few weeks, with some light training sessions to get the boys back in shape for the first of our phase 1 Go Games against Na Gaeil in Ballymac pitch on 24th March. In our next game we were up against John Mitchel’s on the 31st of March.

From here we commenced training back on our own turf in Ballymac on Monday and Saturday evenings and played games usually on a Thursday evening. Phase 1 Go Games continued with Games against Austin Stacks and Miltown/ Castlemaine. 7 The second phase of Go Games started on the 21st of April with the boys playing against John Mitchel’s, Dr Crokes, Laune Rangers, Austin Stacks, Firies and Listowel Emmets.

Central Region Go Games commenced with the boys playing Churchill on the 4th of August followed by KOR, Ardfert and Dr Crokes.

The annual Jerry Foley Blitz in Farranfore took place on 20th August with boys playing Currow, Listry, Fossa and Firies.

We got to a semi-final but lost against Milltown/Castlemaine who went on to win. On the 4th of September we took part in the Paddy Burke Memorial Blitz in Miltown/Castlemaine. The boys played Listry, Dr Crokes and Austin Stacks in the group stages.

In the semi-final we beat the host team Miltown/Castlemaine to reach the final against Churchill, but we were narrowly defeated.

Next up was Castleisland District on the 5th of September, playing Currow, Castleisland and Knocknagoshel. In the final we played Scartaglen but were unlucky on the day. Training whittled down to one day a week in September and we finished the season off with a fun Blitz in Ballyrickard on the 29th of October playing Kilmacud Crokes from Dublin, St Pats Blenneville and KOR.

One of the highlights of our season was playing at half time during a Senior Division 1 Ballymac v Dr Crokes game down at Ballymac football pitch.

It was a great experience for the boys to play in front of such a big crowd, especially of home supporters. Treats were also supplied with thanks to Joanne Long.

Huge thanks to Liam Dowling of Ballymac Kennels who sponsored u11 boys with 2 sets of jerseys.

The boys wore them with pride all year. A special thanks to Sinead Joy for keeping us update and on our toes with match fixtures, Blitzes, and referees, to Joanne Long for all the media work and to Maura Lyons and Caitríona Leen for washing the match day jerseys and bibs after each game and having them fresh and ready to go again.

Thanks to Eddie O’Connell for supplying a few U9s when required. Thanks to Andrew Scanlon for helping on the sideline when needed also. To our management team of John Leen, Thomas Lyons, Ciarán Burke, Kieran O’Connor, Leo O’Connor, Francie Hobbert and Kieran Boyle.
