THE Born To Run Marathon Club in Tralee is gearing up for a major event at the end of the month with their 40 Mile Ultra Marathon.

This is the fourth year of the event where runners of all levels can mix, in a fun filled welcoming atmosphere and the good news is there is still time to enter.

It’s a combination of a solo runner, two person relay (2 x 20miles) and for the first time, they have added a four person relay (two athletes running 8 miles and two running 12 miles) that caters for a wide range of fitness levels so they are looking for teams for that relay.

Each loop has two hills of approximately 0.5 miles each and have a climb of about 90 feet each. These hills are immediately followed by an equal downhill section which will be a welcome relief after the climb.

All finishers will receive a custom made Born to Run Tralee Marathon Club 40 Mile Ultra-Marathon Medal and a Born to Run Tralee Marathon Club Buff.

There will be place awards for the first, second and third male and female participants on the day. For more information see the Born To Run website or the event’s facebook page
