MOTORISTS are being advised the Brandon Car Park in Tralee will be unavailable on Sunday, February 13 to facilitate the running of a fundraising car show.
Members of Kerry Motor Club are organising a static car show in Tralee town centre to raise funds for club member James Quinlan who faces a very difficult medical journey in New York.
The club has been permitted by Tralee Municipal District to close the car park to the general public from 10 am until 6 pm on February 13.

Cars parked overnight at the town centre car park will need to be removed by 9.30am on the day.
Road closure notices have been placed on the entrances and exits since last weekend to advise motorists that the car park will be closed for the day. Over 280 cars are expected to attend the show.
While the event is organised by Kerry Motor Club, every car club in the county including Killarney and District Motor Club and the Kingdom Veteran Vintage and Classic Car Club will display cars at the event.
A huge collection of rally cars, vintage, classic and sports cars will be on show. The oldest car will date from the 1920s, while local dealers will show off the latest new cars on the day.
Local motorcycle racers will show off the race bikes they use in Mondello Park – it will be the first-time local racing bikes have gone on show in Kerry.
Display cars include several rally cars, like a Ford Focus World Rally Car, the Ford Escort Mk2 that won the Killarney Historic Rally in the hands of Rob Duggan and a BMW E30 M3 rally car.
Kerry Motor Club’s John Liston is a close friend of the Quinlan family.
“We are overwhelmed with the support we are getting from the car community all over Kerry and beyond. I even heard there are members of London Irish Motor Club coming over for the weekend. This has the potential to be the biggest car show ever seen in Kerry. We have a great team working hard to make it happen,” he said.
“We are very grateful to Cllr Terry O’Brien for his help in securing the use of the Brandon Car Park. His brother Tommy was a founding member of Kerry Motor Club 50 years ago and it’s great to see the O’Brien family still have an interest in car culture in Kerry.”
James, from Waterville, suffered a major brain haemorrhage on December 19 and remains in the intensive care unit in a Manhattan Hospital.
His friends in the Kerry motorsport community are running a series of events over the coming weeks including this car show at the Brandon Car Park in Tralee on February 13.
