THE owners of a Tralee-based company have described how their business has been transformed after they were selected as a winning applicant in the Virgin Media Backing Business initiative.

Grounded Pottery , founded by Marjorie Cunningham and Emma Carmody, said the initiative has helped them develop an ecommerce website to expand their online business allowing even more people to access their hand-thrown, ceramic reusable Travel Cups with designs inspired by the Irish countryside.

Five Munster businesses, including Grounded Pottery, were selected as winners of the Virgin Media Backing Business initiative and received a total of €100,000 in support and have benefitted greatly from the expertise and insights of each of the Virgin Media ‘Backing Business’ partners including Digital Business Ireland, Milk Bottle Labs, Permanent TSB and their Local Enterprise Office.

Virgin Media and its partners will continue to mentor and support each of these businesses as they continue on their journey to offer the best digital e-commerce platforms and solutions for their customers.

Speaking about the transformation Emma Carmody from Grounded Pottery said: “We hand make travel cups to encourage our customers to live more sustainability and move towards a more circular economy. With the addition of our new website to our online offering, more like minded consumers will be able to ‘Feel the Difference’ of the craftsmanship of our pottery cups, and ‘Make a Difference’ to the environment by avoiding unnecessary waste of single use cups.”

Marjorie Cunningham from Grounded Pottery added “I enjoy the creative element of designing our Travel Cups, and our website allows us to offer unique ceramic pieces to our customers, that are functional and portable.”

Grounded Pottery have social channels on Instagram @grounded.pottery and Facebook @groundedpottery.
