A huge win for Kerry Camogie on Saturday when they defeated Clare on a scoreline of Kerry 5-19 Clare 1-05.

Clare travelled to fulfil the fixture despite having won no game in the competition and had numerous personnel changes.

Kerry were in charge from the off with Norette Casey and Anne Marie Leen splitting the posts before Niki Kaiser replied for Clare.

Aoife Behan had a goal for Kerry followed by points from Jacqueline Horgan, Patrice Diggin and Anne Marie Leen before Laura Collins pulled on a ball to the net, in-between Niki Kaiser had a point for Clare.

It was 2-5 to 1-2 on the 20 minute mark as Louise McDonnell goaled for Clare. Jacqueline Horgan and Anne Marie Leen had a goal each and at the other end there was a great save from Alanna Maunsell in the Kerry goal, 4-8 to 1-2 at halftime.

Kerry went on to empty their bench and Jessica Fitzell, who was named on the starting fifteen but was replaced by Saidbhe Horgan, entered the fray to get Kerry’s fifth goal.

The game had gone a little flat given that Kerry were never in any danger of losing. Kerry would have preferred a more stern test given that they are only one game away from a final appearance.
