THE gym at CBS The Green was packed with students and staff on Thursday afternoon to honour the recent sporting achievements by certain pupils.

The four lads who were on the Kerry minor panel who won the All-Ireland this year, thus making five-in-a-row history, came in for special mention.

Sean Quilter, Paudie White, Devon Burns and Joe Linehan, who brought along the Tommy Markham Cup, were presented to their peers and received a huge ovation.

It was also an occasion to mention other high achievers like Rapolas Buivydas who plays for St Brendans Basketball Club and was a member of Irish U16 squad who went to the European Championships in Sarajevo.

Elsewhere, there was a mention for young soccer player, Sean Kennedy, who has been signed up by Sunderland FC, Jordan Kissane was was honoured for his All Ireland U16 100m and 200m Gold medal wins in the past few months, while David Siegel won a Silver Medal Short Putt at the All-Ireland Schools Championships in Tullamore and the Tailtean games in Santry in June.

Impressive stuff indeed but it’s par for the course at a school which has produced many great sportsmen down through the years.
