AUSTIN Stacks’ Ulster opposition in the All-Ireland final have issued a request to move the fixture from Saturday, February 14 to the next day, which may affect live TV coverage of the game.

New Ulster club champions Slaughtneil lodged the request with the Central Competitions Control Committee GAA to change the date to Sunday, February 15,  as one of the players in the Derry side has a family wedding.

While moving the fixture may not have a huge bearing on the preparations for players, it could mean the match may not be covered live on TG4, as there is a full programme of Allianz Hurling League fixtures on that Sunday which is likely to take precedence over a club game.

It could be a blessing in disguise for Austin Stacks as many more Rockies may travel to the game  (which is likely to be in a midlands venue) if it’s not on TV.

No decision on the request has been made yet.
