THE International Children’s Games team travelling to Coventry in August finished their fundraising drive with a well organised Spinathon at Manor Retail Park on Saturday last from 10am to 4pm.

The athletes were required to ride a Spin Bike for a period of one hour in pairs while the adults-mostly parents of the athletes and members of the ICG committee- supported them by receiving contributions from the public by bucket collection.

All in all the event went off without a hitch and the committee were more than happy with the funds raised on the day.

Tralee ICG chairman Mike Culloty thanked members of the public for their support and everyone who helped to make the day possible: “In reality it would be impossible for us to function without the support of the general public at events such as this, which enable us to continue participation at the Children’s Games on an annual basis. The 17 athletes travelling this year represent Kerry and Ireland in Track and Field, Swimming and Basketball”.

Preparations are well in order at this stage, with the different squads in training with their respective coaches and all should be ready for departure on August 10th from Farranfore airport to Stansted and then on to Coventry.
