CHRISTMAS is worth millions of euro to Tralee and the Christmas Spraoi in Tralee aims to attract more people than ever to the county’s retail capital for a great festive experience in 2014.

Tralee Chamber Alliance and Kerry County Council have teamed up to launch the Christmas Spraoi in Tralee – 34 days of fun, joy and excitement for shoppers, diners and party-goers.

The Christmas Spraoi in Tralee will start on Saturday, November 29 when the Rose of Tralee, Maria Walsh, joins the Mayor of Tralee, Cllr Jim Finucane, to switch on the Christmas lights in The Square.

The CH Annual Santa Parade will signal the start of the festive season – also on November 29 – while the Fireworks Spectacular at Manor Park from 7pm on New Year’s Eve will bring in 2015 with a bang!

The CEO of Tralee Chamber Alliance, Kieran Ruttledge, said: “Over €30,000 will be spent this year on music, lights and promoting the town as Munster’s top Christmas destination. Christmas is when most people push the boat out in treating family, relatives, work colleagues and friends with gifts, presents and social occasions. Tralee Chamber Alliance is proud to push the boat out to make it memorable and profitable for businesses, local charities and the wider community. We are grateful to our members and Kerry County Council for making this possible.”

Details of some fun new Christmas charity events will be announced in the coming weeks to add some colour and spice to what is already an exciting calendar.

Santa will meet children at a host of venues in the Tralee area while many of the town’s hotels have lined-up a full programme of Christmas Party Nights throughout December.

Festive music will fill the air over the streets of Tralee from The Crib in The Square, through the Town Centre with many charities benefitting from the dulcet tones of the carol singers.

“Free on-street parking and in Kerry County Council Car Parks from 1pm daily for the entire month of December will help make a trip to Tralee the perfect day and night out this Christmas,” he said.

The Christmas Spraoi in Tralee Calendar will be available on www.Tralee.ie, Facebook and from outlets all over Tralee from the middle of November.
